Ownership doesn't want a salary cap because it also would require a salary floor, and the cheapasses would actually have to pay their players instead of enriching themselves.

They're just using the luxury tax/CBT as a de facto cap, with none of the ramifications of having a floor. Baseball revenues are up across the board, TV deals are up, and average and median salaries are down. The owners aren't losing money.

Great summation here. I’m not trying to sound on one side or the other. They both are fucking around with the game, and I really just want to watch a baseball season.

But, my gripes do run deeper with the owners and league at this point, exactly for the reason that they want to try to have all the aspects of a cap that benefit them and none of the parts that don’t. Fuck that.

The average fan is going to get hosed one way or the other. Do you think the owners are going to charge less all of a sudden if salaries continue to go down?

reminds me of when airlines starting charging $25 a bag for check in due to "fuel costs" once those went down.... they never dropped that fee

It never goes away. Bridge tolls in the SF Bay Area were just supposed to repay the cost of building them. Now, a trip across the Bay Bridge will run you $7. The Golden Gate is over $8.

yep my father in law lives off of the DNT and lebanon. so i come in on 45/75 cut across and take the DNT from downtown up to Frisco

That’s pretty close to me and the route I typically take from Houston (although depending on traffic I can just go straight up 45/75 and take side streets from Allen).

It shocked the shot out of me when they finally removed the tolls from GA 400 a few years ago.
