MLB Opening Day Morning!

Tigers lose but I baked salmon steaks for the game so it was a W in my tummy. 😋
Brewers lost, but made it very interesting at the end of the game last night.

I’ve been ignoring the Wings until Yzerman is fired. I have had less than 0 faith in them.

I get what Yzerman is trying to do; he's trying to build a team through the draft that will be sustainably good for a decade and he's gotta do it within the constraints of a tight salary cap.

He was successful in Tampa doing that, but he was also much more fortunate in Tampa to have a #1 overall draft pick in Stamkos and a #2 overall pick in Hedman to build around and he struck gold drafting Kucherov and Point later in the draft. Yzerman has not had picks that high in Detroit and he has not struck gold with later picks (yet, at least). Despite that, his drafting has been pretty good.

Where things have gotten shaky for him is in trades and free agency.

Yeah that’s the general consensus around here. Good drafter, bad at acquiring veteran talent. We’ve also failed to find a solid net minder.

Goalie has definitely been a problem for a long time; but Yzerman has two goalie prospects in the pipeline that look promising.

- Sebastian Cossa has been the primary goalie in Grand Rapids who has progressed into possibly being the Wings primary goalie next year.

- Trey Augustine (Yzerman drafted in the 3rd round) just finished his sophomore season at Michigan State and has been very good - winning two World Junior gold medals as the starting goalie for USA the last two years and leading the Spartans to two straight Big Ten championships.

Yankees were ambushing Brewers pitchers like they knew exactly what pitches would be thrown.

I read something about them using new bats? Not sure if true or if it was a joke.
