This is gross and I hate it. Three loss Utah sitting pretty with TCU and flippin' Tulane.
Hey there. Hold up. Didn't Tulane beat Kansas State? Let 'em in somewhere. This is gross and I hate it. Three loss Utah sitting pretty with TCU and flippin' Tulane.
I think that's in the playoff structure. It's the 4 highest rated conference champions who get the bye week (if I'm not mistaken)I don't see why they'd seed champions higher.
But the thing is, if this thing played out a certain way:
Georgia could play Tennessee... again.
Or Alabama could play Tennessee... again.
TCU could play Kansas State for a 3rd time. Is that right?
Michigan could play Penn State or Ohio State... again.
Southern Cal could play Utah for a 3rd time. Is that right?
Am I way off here, or not looking at something wrong?
I know things would have to go a long way away from chalk.
Not sure I am a fan of this format. Especially if it happened this year.
Yeah. I get that. But with only 12 regular season games, I might see two teams face each other three times counting the regular season, CCG, and 12 team playoff. Not so sure I wanna see that. All of these can and do happen in pretty much every other completive sports playoff

I hate the idea of auto-bids for conference champions. If you aren’t in the top 12, you didn’t really earn a seat at the table.
How the 12 team playoff should work is conference champion out of the P5 gets an automatic BYE, obviously there are only 4 BYE's so the lowest rated P5 champ doesn't get the BYE.
in theory. wouldnt have been that way last season. or in 20. or in 18,The 5 position is going to be really nice every year if you don't win your conference. Generally going to play the G5 auto qualifier and then the worst of the conference champions.
Make em the #1 seed in the G5 playoffHey there. Hold up. Didn't Tulane beat Kansas State? Let 'em in somewhere.
Well. There ya go. Solved.Make em the #1 seed in the G5 playoff
That’s how it works. How the 12 team playoff should work is conference champion out of the P5 gets an automatic BYE, obviously there are only 4 BYE's so the lowest rated P5 champ doesn't get the BYE.
