Morning team. Made it back to Mn yesterday, mostly fine. Just a little grouchy after 17 hours in the car between 2 days
Saturday went mostly ok. Route through Oklahoma wasn't on an interstate so occasionally drove through towns and dealt with stoplights etc, was a little annoying. Stayed at an AirBNB in Kansas City, was rated 4.6. Place wasn't 4.6, pretty dumpy. I probably wouldn't have minded so much if I paid about 1/2 what I did. Was marginally better than a airport hotel.
Sunday drive up was frustrating. Hit central IA and started to have fight wind for next few hours until I hit southern MN. Saturday we averaged 27/28 MPG. Sunday we averaged 23/24 MPG.
Found out not every gas station has premium gas. Pulled over in Iowa stopped at Casey's, Mrs Pnk goes to bathroom and I notice, no premium gas. Went to different gas station across street basically, they had premium and I decided I needed to pee, no bathroom. So we went to a different Casey's so I could pee. 3 gas stations, one tank of gas, 2 bathroom stops Second Casey's, which is 1/2 block down from first Casey's we went to had premium, and kicker is, I took U turn to get first casey's, had I Just gone left instead of U turn and went to Casey's further from freeway, I would've go premium gas and bathroom all in one stop.
Then lunch was a pain, stopped at a Wendy's, closed. Decided to go Subway which wasn't near freeway and turned out inside a walmart, so we skipped going and back on road. Got off again little later different wendy's, drive thru closed. went inside and ordered. I would've waited until we got home, but we had no food at home..
All the detours, stops, probably added half hour to trip ontop of half hour it would've normally taken to make a gas/bathroom stop and lunch (we would've done one stop, but we were low on gas at 10am and had to stop)
Got home, unloaded car. Murray after being cooped up in the car was restless, no surprise. He broke out front door and started running down driveway. His recall sucks, but thankfully he hates cold more. Got to end of driveway and realized his paws were cold, he held his front paw in air and started howling like he was in pain. I had to carry him inside while he yelped like he had been beaten
tl,dr; long drive, was windy and annoying, but home safe and murray hates the cold
