Don't see the point in getting up that early for one thing. During gun season around here the sun usually isn't even close to being up till almost 7

It would be the attempt at the 2nd option that would cause the first.

I understand the success possibility is low... but they won't take me alive.

Nope. He sleeps in on weekends unless he’s hunting. The deer are more active as sun up and sun down than the afternoon, so he goes in the morning. And that’s easier than the evenings around our house.

When he goes out of town to hunt he goes early until lunch time, then they nap in the afternoon, then go back out in the evening until sundown.

You have to walk out there and sit quietly for a time.

I quit hunting a few years ago. Got tired of killing things. I just pay other people to kill my food now.
Kind of the same way I started dealing with my enemies.

I didn’t really like my dad’s pellet smoker. But I’ll be doing plenty of research on what I buy next.

Yep. Same here. Gun season is after the time change here so sunrise is pretty close to 7ish. I would get up 5:30 maybe. Hunt till 10-10:30 have a nice unhealthy lunch and sleep for an hour then back out at 2 till sundown

They like to be in the stand at least 30 minutes prior to sun up. So between getting ready, the drive out, and the hike to the stand, they need a few hours.
