I’m sure I’ve told this story before, but I have an attorney friend that is forever banned form Mexico. He’s one of the main attorneys that sues the Catholic Church for sex abuse. He was in Mexico to announce a lawsuit about a decade ago and after the press conference he got kidnapped by some dudes and held for about a day or so. He had no idea what was going to happen. The Mexican government eventually escorted him to a flight back to MN, but it came with a permanent ban to traveling back to Mexico. Ended up barring the lawsuit.

It's just another example of society trending towards narcissism. Social media obviously has value but I do think its overall impact on society has been more negative than positive

Indeed. With nothing but his wallet and phone. Literally got one of those black bags pulled over his head and thrown into the back of a van. And it isn’t like he’s a small dude. He’s like 6’5” and a former minor league baseball pitcher. Those folks weren’t messing around. Those folks in Mexico City take their religion very seriously.
