I was there last month for 10 days visiting the daughter. I must say, it's Canada's best city for a visit. Even though it's in French speaking Quebec, everyone there speaks fluent English, making it very easy to navigate. Old Town neighborhood of Montreal (right down on the river) is just fantastic. Best poutine, ever!

Would absolutely love to go to Montreal. What has kept me from going is how expensive it is. My brother and SIL went and they said they could have gone to Europe cheaper.

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you head to a high end restaurant in Old Montreal on the water, expect to pay equivalent to high end similar restaurants in the US. You can always go to Hooters on Crescent street for some cheap wings and tits.
