I always thought it would be a good idea to learn a new language, so I could have multilingual kids. If they grow up knowing multiple languages, it'll be a huge boost for them.

There is a population of Portuguese in South Africa... Smaller than Dutch, English, and German, but due to the trade routes, they're there. Some of her friends here in Columbus from SA are actually Portuguese.

as one of my multilingual friends has said... "you in the US have earned the right for everybody else to converse in your language... not out of conquering, but by being lazier than everybody else."
