She sued, she won, McDonalds lost a lot more than 20,000 for being negligent after being told for years they were storing their coffee too hot. After the woman's name was dragged through the mud, I wish she could have got a bigger settlement.
It’s quite an old argument at this point, but it’s insane to think manipulating coffee (adding cream and/or sugar) in your lap is safe, or that coffee marketed as “hot” should be sold as something else. It was dangerously close to being frivolous, and should be treated as such.
