Surprising in a good way, which should be obvious given the other thread, but there's always that one guy...

I think there's 3 teams that have a real argument

Red Sox- They were terrible last year and missed the playoffs the year before, now they're comfortably in first place and tied for the most wins in the Majors
Brewers- I don't think anyone expected them to be bad, but I don't think anyone expected them to be 7 games up in their division
Giants- They've been pretty meh to bad the last few years, and with a division containing the Dodgers and Padres, nobody expected them to be in first place, with a run differential that says their record is exactly what it's supposed to be.

This is easily the Giants.

The Red Sox have been the most successful team this millennium, and while they had a rough couple of years, I don't think many expected them to stay down long. It's surprising they're in first for sure, but not shocking

The Brewers are better than we thought, but they weren't expected to be bad

Giants success has came out of nowhere to me at least.

The Brewers.

I agree with the Giants ... that team deserves a better city. I am very happy with the progress my Tigers are making, but they are not near contention at this point. Next year or 2023.

Had to be the Giants to me. All the rest have been impressive, but the Giants have been utterly shocking.

Not fun to own as a Phillies fan. When a manager leaves a bad stretch of your team you want to see them struggle elsewhere for validation that the manager was the problem. That’s not showing to be the case here.

They came in with no pitching, no defense, 4 good bats and bunch of cast offs and budget acquisitions. The pitching isn't great, but has been a pretty big surprise, the defense still blows, they are near the top of most offensive statistical categories and they are tied for most wins in MLB.

Put me down for the Homer pick, the Boston Red Sox

If Rex can go homer, so can I. They were expected to be a .500 club at best but sit 16 games over. The off season moves to address a weak fielding team has only helped a young pitching staff. To think they are still playing 3 offensive starters on DL leads me to believe they may only get better.

Amazing how much of a difference going from 14th in the AL in ERA to 6th makes. Even in 2020, the rotation did show reason to be optimistic in September (3.29 ERA). The bullpen has also shown a lot of improvement, though it feels like a high wire act with all the walks. This team has given up 12 fewer home runs than they did in 2020... despite having played 26 more games!

And now we are watching the carriage turn into a pumpkin right before our eyes.

Giants.

Can't fathom how a team with Gabe Kapler managing them can win so much.

Yea, it's time to get Perez and Richards out of the rotation. Hopefully Houck will stick after tomorrow

Can I shoot Eddie Rodriguez too!

Rodriguez is frustrating, but he does have a 3.79 ERA over his last 8 starts (as bad as he was against Toronto). I'd be fine with letting him walk in the offseason though
