Most Wins the Last 50 Years

OD would probably come up with some justification that results don't matter until around 1994, since thats about the time Oregon stopped being in the middling to bottom feeder category.

didn’t they start capping scholarships in 1994? Sounds like a perfect rationale for starting all stats in 1994 moving forward

1992 I guess could be considered the true "modern era"

  • 1992 - 85 Scholarship Limit, First FBS Conference Championship Game, Beginning of the Bowl Coalition

1992 will work then 😉

you shouldn't claim Lincoln Riley's win. that would really show him

It's a whole new "modern era" now though with the playoff, NIL and all the conference changes that have happened in the past like 12 or so seasons.

start of the BCS would be a good one. NIL is probably the start to a new era

ahhh, good times. Reminds me of fred who thinks nothing after 1960 counts.

Eh, I think the start of the playoff would be before the start of the BCS.

That was only 6 years after 1992. The Bowl Coalition was basically a precursor to the BCS so I'd put them about in the same category

I usually start in 1970 but I'll accept the 1950s

Anything before that is laughable, IMO, especially the war eras and the 1800s-early 1900s

Michigan fans bragging about the late 1800s and early 1900s cracks me up especially. You know, when they would legit teach teams how to play "modern" football (at that time), then play them and beat them to a pulp and claim it as a legit W. (also games against comical things like High Schools/YMCA/and "clubs")

Yes it's history but it does not hold up in the current times at all in any way shape or form.

Passing wasn't even allowed until 1906 iirc.

We are going back to1972 so taking into consideration up until 1979 the most wins that Miami had was 6. Pretty impressive.

Tennessee used to be towards the top of this list during the Phillip Fulmer era :(. It was a constant bragging point (I think during late 1990s, they were even at the top). We feel pretty hard the last 20 years.
Good... It makes me happy you feel that way!! Now give me a big Roll Tide!!!

Given how bad Nebraska has been, this kind of highlights how dominate they were during the good years.

That 10 year stretch of Dubose, Franchione, Price, Shula really hurt us.

In 1973 the NCAA imposed a limit of 105 scholarships for football programs, essentially freeing up money for scholarships in other sports, especially women's sports
