Muschamp fired (South Carolina Gamecocks head coach search)

They should go after Fickell or the Rajun Cajun HC.. If they are gonna go pay out 15mil to buyout Coach Blood.. then might as well take an up and comer and deliver bags to help them with recruiting, no?

I'd also love to see Freeze bolt Liberty after signing an extension with them just days ago after using UT for leverage..lol

I can see it now... He'd just soak his covid masks with his "spittle" during the games. heh heh :dhd:

I would say Holtz Spurrier and Morrison were good coaches. Outside of that not much. Caslen ended up being solid. But for each of those guys there’s a lot more Brad Scott’s and Sparky Woods.

I do think they could really benefit this year tho because I doubt many schools will be looking for new coaches. Which leaves them with a better opportunity to land a Freeze or Napier.
I thought so too until I read this article and got to thinking about the current economic environment in college athletics.

"The fiscal wherewithal, and, to some degree, morality, of having the highest-paid state employee in many states where Covid rates are soaring be a local college football coach is something being talked about with more frequency among coaching agents and their clients, with some projecting a recalibration coming in the type of compensation coaches can expect while campuses remain in varying degrees of virtual learning." (Damn long sentence)

College coaches could make the jump

while looking for Muschamp's meltdown during the Auburn/Alabama game a few years back, I came across this:

Saban and Muschamp absolutely letting some poor sucker have it back in 2003

I could see a couple coaches making the jump. But not big time power 5 schools. They’ll get paid still. I think coordinator position are more likely to see jumps to the nfl. But in the end these big schools will find a way to pay. Maybe a slight decrease but overall, it’ll be enough to get a guy like Freeze or Napier. Or Fickell (although I think he is looking more for the right big time school)

Is South Carolina putting money towards facilities en sech???

A big commitment there, and they might could land someone.

They did a few years back towards the players facilities.

I'm shocked anyone got fired in this climate, but my guess would be they're going after Freeze or maybe even Sark. Hopefully Freeze.

Muschamp may end up at Bama as an analyst
Just have to have alumnus or 2 who can cut the 7, 8 figure checks. Coach money doesn't come from the school, but the athletic association.

What a difficult job that is. Rivals are Clemson, and you have to compete in recruiting with some of the strongest teams in the country.

Hugh Freeze coming to Columbia?
Would have to be approved by the commissioner, and I don't think that would happen. If Freeze has a brain, stay at Liberty for a few more years and then go to Auburn or UTjr.

USCjr is a tough place to win:

- no history or tradition of winning.
- recruiting you have to compete with Clemson in-state, UGa, UTjr, UNC all right next door.
- expectations are widely out of whack with reality ... they expect to hire a big time name if you look at their boards ... totally delusional. You are going into a 7, 8 game winning team on average, but they expect CCs.

Is this guy still getting paid by 2 or 3 different schools? If not, he might be available.

LOL ... I think the Domers FINALLY did their last payment to Weis a few years ago. That had to be one of the biggest college HC contract extension clusterfucks of all time! heh heh :headscratch:

His "schematic advantage" just "pooped out"... :dhd:

Fired going 28-30 overall during a covid season......usc is delusional
