Muschamp fired (South Carolina Gamecocks head coach search)

Damn, that means no Napier.. What's Fickell's background? Also.. this must mean Freeze might actually be in play.. and at least Saban won't be as quick to run to the NCAA since Freeze is on the other side of the conference now.

Fickell was a DC for Ohio State

well.. i was wrong thinking Freeze wouldn't be targeted there.. Feels like he is number 1 based on them wanting an offensive coach.. and if you are going to buy out Will for 15 or so mil, logic tells you that they won't go for an unproven "up and comer" from the G5.

If Clemson was able to achieve everything they have since the addition of Dabo, why can't SCe? The two biggest programs they have to deal with in it's own division is FL and UGA.. who have not won a title in over a decade (or even 3 decades, but who's counting?)

Muschamp for as a great of a guy that he is.. is just over his head with these types of jobs. He has never gotten the offense part down and his teams make mental mistakes in critical moments. I love the guy but like Red said about Chuck.. I think Will is a solid DC/position coach. There's no shame in that.. which is why I respect Venables for telling other schools no.. He has it good with concentrating on one side of the ball.

I don't think Freeze is on the table as of yet.. that show cause is big..even for SEC. I would go on Napier since he too knows the bag game from Nick.. and he'll be cheaper than a Freeze which means they can put more money into recruiting.
Columbia is a shithole and Clemson is a cool college town on a lake.

People are quick to forget that Clemson wasn't always a powerhouse. However, they face much less serious roadblocks to make the playoffs than South Carolina would, especially with Florida State being down. It's going to be tough for South Carolina, especially if Florida and Georgia are both playing at the level they should.

There's potential at South Carolina but it's going to be hard to turn them into another Clemson.

You've obviously never been to Columbia SC.

Putting down UGA and UF is rich from a UT fan. USCjr has to play UGA and UF every year, with a fixed cross division game against TAMU. Then they rotate games that include UA, LSU, and AU. And they get to end every season with Clemson. How do we think Tejas would do with:

- UGA
- UF
- TAMU (who you are scared to play)
- Clemson

Then one of UA, AU and LSU every other year.

Let's see, you guys play OU each year. That's about it. With USCjr's schedule you might be a little better at 2-3 losses per year ... wait you do that against far worse competition now, but Your Baaack!

At the end of the day, what I said about USCjr holds true. They are a 3-4 loss team every year,at best. See schedule above. See past history of zero SEC championships. See what they did under Holtz and Spurrier, two HOF coaches. See my discussion about recruiting - what do you have to offer that a player can't get at Clemson (instate), and neighbors to the south, west and north - UF, UGA, UTjr, and UNC.

Columbia? Heroin

Why do people say this? What potential is there? South Carolina is a decent but not great recruiting grounds - in 2020, they were 20th out of 50 in blue chips with 5. Florida had 59, Georgia had 36. They have to compete against Clemson for those 5. They have no winning tradition, etc. See my post above regarding everything else. It's a dead-end destination.

It's almost like going to UGA to be a basketball coach, but worse. At least we have had some success in the long ago past.

In their first 100 years of football, they only made it to 2 bowl games.

LOL..Yes we are scared of playing aggy.. and I love how you decided to bring my Horns into this.. Guess you still haven't gotten over the loss to Texas in the sugarbowl..but of course it doesn't count..just like losing to SCe last season, at home, against their backup QB.. But yeah SCe has such a monumental tough road compared to Clemson...

Golding is FUCKING TOAST.

I'll simply point out that you took the first dig at UGA and UF. I was simply responding in kind. You seriously going to point out our one upset loss like that hurts my feelings or something? LOL.

Congrats on that Sugar Bowl win ... Tejas highlight for the last decade. That's sad, but hey, Your Baaack!

And, to the substance of the post, you admit I was right about USCjr. Great talk.

I just don't get why someone would say they have potential. AU has potential if you get rid of Gus ... and a natty in the past decade. Please keep Gus for years to come. UTjr even ... they at least have tradition even though they have sucked the better part of the past 2 decades ... they have potential. USCjr? Nah.
