GAME Music City Bowl: Purdue vs Tennessee 3pm ET ESPN

His forward progress was clearly stopped, minus the late attempt by the OL to drag him into the end zone
I think it's close, because he does get his back leg moved forward one more time before he lunged for the goal line. Did look like he was stopped for a good half-second before that last step, though.

For those of you whining about the call: The offensive lineman was clearly grasping and pulling the running back into the end zone, which is a 5 yard penalty.

Interfering for or Helping the Ball Carrier or Passer
ARTICLE 2. a. The ball carrier or passer may use their hand or arm to ward off or push opponents.
b. The ball carrier shall not grasp a teammate; and no other teammate shall grasp, pull, or lift the ball carrier to assist in forward progress. (A.R. 9-3-2-I)
c. Teammates of the ball carrier or passer may interfere with opponents by blocking but shall not use interlocked interference by grasping or encircling one another in any manner while contacting an opponent.

PENALTY—Five yards [S44].

Ref blew whistle and forward progess was stopped. That can't be overruled.

Ref blew whistle 6 hours later.

It was a cop out for incompetence.

And my statement stands, he was never down.

The player stopped trying and THEN reached for the end zone after he felt his oline trying to pull him in and noticed he was on to of the Purdue player. Even he thought the play was over

Things that, amongst some others, end the play and designate where to spot ball:
- Down by contact
- Going out of bounds
- Refs determine forward progress stopped.

Notice that the whistle has nothing at all to do with it.

Perma ban bet?
I do avatar bets only - and always win them.

And no, I'm not silly enough to make that bet now.

Though I am certain Bama would mercilessly clown-stomp your team with little effort.

Yeah, you're the only one saying that. Be objective here.

I guess I'm in the minority thinking Tennessee didn't get screwed?

Watch it there, bub, or I won't participate in your "Wake Up " threads in the future, which would be a damned shame because i am so freaking awesome.
Sorry. That’s the codeine and cheap wine talking

Can't make excuses for Heupel dumb shit coaching/play calling. Priceless !!

The only thing that can be said is it was not a legal TD in any scenario.

It should have been at best a penalty on Tennessee for the lineman trying to pull the RB into the end zone or at worst left as is.
