My First Bowl Game

My first Bowl Game was called by Keith Jackson ad Ara Parseghian on a very cold night in Memphis. Coach Bryant was wearing a red ski mask instead of his houndstooth hat. Show him for the first time right after the 6 minute mark after the Tide take a 3-0 lead.

Yeah, I was gonna say Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE is basically empty an hour before kick-off. That's with them having the nations longest sell-out streak dating back to 1962.

Starting a bowl game (with G5 teams) at 12 pm (ET) on a Monday doesn't help.
It takes time for the buses to pickup orphans and homeless.

Went with my wife and my dad to the Capital One Bowl between Bama and Michigan State back in 2011.

We were the only ones in Bama gear in a sea of MSU fans, surrounded by younger folks ribbing us about how the Spartans were going to humiliate the Tide.

By halftime we were mostly alone.

I went to that game too.
'Twas a beautiful day in Downtown Orlando.
Perfect Football Weather!

Headed tomorrow morning for Birmingham Bowl. Supposed to rain the entire time.

The Frogg Toggs are in the jeep waiting to leave.

Beat me to my edit! :)

I've been to the Birmingham Bowl twice:
1978 Hall of Fame Classic: Texas A&M beat Iowa State (first Cyclone Game)
2012 BBVA Compass Bowl: S.M.U. beat Pitt

Both games @ Legion Field.

Have fun tomorrow.
Sting 'em Jackets!

Mid to late 60s Orange Bowl.
