I thought Stoops coming from KY would be a disaster of a hire for your aggys.. Instead my pick (Elko) and the guy you got, looks to be even more of a disaster..

they sacrificed Elijah Robinson.... for Bateman? The famous $9.95er and school mouthpiece been saying it was a coach who was still on a staff for a bowl game...

and that turned out to be false.

So Bateman at DC and Klein at OC... not the way I thought this was going to go. Better get that NIL raising to another level or I expect more pain on the trail without it.

It looks to me like they gave pink slips to their top recruiters as well.

I disagree that Stoops would have been a bad hire as he has made Kentucky relevant, gotten a QB taken in the first round and in a short time become the winningest coach in KY history. Hard to argue what the man has done in Lexington.

My beef with stoops is that he is following up Jimbo who couldn't get it done.. but Jimbo could recruit elite DL players.. Stoops has never shown that.. and he always has an excuse for not getting it done on the trail.

He also doesn't have near the pressure at KY like there is in c/s.. the fans still think the roster is CFP worthy.

My thinking with Elko was that he knows that roster, he was there when that elite class was signed.. he also knows the program and fanbase. Plus be much cheaper..

and based on that leaked contract (so aggy) they had a budget for an 11M staff.. which i think was a lie cause he's settling on bargain bin coaches so far. They don't have the NIL to keep their class together and pieces to the elite class they brought in. This is going to be a really bad class EVEN if they somehow keep Bussey from committing to LSU in February. McKinley is gone, Evans is gone

oh and the funniest thing is that they are using a newly hired Syracuse DC to be the HC in the bowl game.. and all he's doing is convincing players to leave and even doing in homes with them (as a syracuse DC) LOL

I don’t think Mark Stoops is a bad coach at all. He’s done good things at Kentucky. But his success is tied in some way to that schedule. UK gets 3 midmajors OOC and Louisville Thats been down for a large portion of his time at Kentucky. Then in conference gets yearly games with South Carolina, Missouri and Vandy who like Louisville have been down for large portions of his tenure. Add in their cross division yearly matchup in Miss St and it’s honestly shocking how they don’t win 8 minimum yearly. Itll be interesting to see what happens with the schedule getting tougher.

Should’ve just kept Jimbo TBH.
Now they broke.

lol they hired Wiggins from Saban staff for WRs coach.. I bet Saban is losing sleep now..

Elko really using that 11 mil staffing budget to full use, ain't he?

I'm really starting to think that initial recruiting classes are becoming less and less important. Teams like Ohio State and Bama lose half these kids before their 2nd year. Transfer portal and player retention are the most important things in today's game.
