National Championship Game pregame discussion thread

I have no idea. Luckily it wound up not mattering that much
It didn’t but man.. he looked totally inept on that drive. Jumped all over SB yet he had more chances to call time out and get his offense ready than SB did.
If he was putting on an act to make Bama overconfident because he is dumb then.. he really sold it.

There were a lot of instances in that game that would have been bad had we been playing Bama. The clock management to close the half. Stetson just throwing a floater up for grabs across his body towards the middle of the field. Michigan receivers dropping passes in key moments. Michigan DB just flat out stopping and allowing a walk in TD when he wasn't beat until he stopped.

Gonna have to play a lot better on Monday than we did on Friday. Bama ain't Michigan. You can't get away with that kind of shit against them.

Rematch. Boring. Will tune in in the 4th if it’s close.

Stetson Bennett was the only QB to throw for over 300 yards during the semi finals. None of the other 3 got over 200.

Think that’s just mostly because Michigan had nobody that could match up with James Cook or Brock Bowers

If Bama plays a perfect game and capitalizes on UGA mistakes, they can win.

Otherwise I don't see it - beating a really good team twice in one season is awfully tough to do.

I will watch the game because, hey, it's college football. But also, does Bama have something special and runs away with it like the SEC Championship? Does Smart finally get it done? By little or by a lot? Do the Dawgs win in such a manner that they are favored to win the SEC next season? If either team is down by 17-20 at the half, can the other team adjust and mount a comeback or even win? That's why I am watching.

I wouldn't trust Georgia to come back if they're down 17-20 points. Not that they can't, but they're not really built to comeback like that.

You're correct. Ok maybe down 10-12 at the half.
Although on the flip side, if Georgia is up 20 on Bama at halftime then Bama's defense ain't doing shit and probably won't come back either lol

UGA could win by 100 and they wouldn't be favored to win it all next season. Losing a lot of top talent. Really, this might set a UGA record for players taken in an NFL draft.

Last time UGA had a team that was near this good was 2017, and it took 4 years to get back to that level.

It's do or die time for UGA.

Probably still a top 5ish team the next couple years, but unless the next QB is a generational talent, not gonna be natty capable.

If we're down multiple scores at half, it's over. When Stetson Bennett plays from behind, Stetson Bennett makes bad mistakes. I'm sure I'm forgetting a game, but the only game I remember UGA coming back from a multi score deficit and winning under Kirby was the Rose Bowl against Oklahoma, and that was largely because you could have parallel parked an 18 wheeler in the holes that Chubb and Michel had in the second half of that game.

Three scores is a lot. I always hold onto hope if the game is within 14 points until there's not enough time, but 3 scores down, it's over until it ain't.

Yeah Georgia isn't bad on offense but they're not 2020 Bama good. Bama isn't awful on defense, but they're not to Georgia's level. So if either team gets a 3 TD lead, I agree with you. Except Georgia's offense would be the problem or on the flip side Bama's defense would most likely be the problem

One encouraging thing from the Michigan game was the trick plays. Under Kirby, trick plays against us tend to work every time while the trick plays we draw up rarely work(and to be fair, we don’t draw up many of them).

I remember Michigan running two trick plays. The flea flicker turned into a dump off for a small gain and the other was blown up before it started, and the RB pass play we ran couldn’t have worked better. Fooled me. I thought for sure it was gonna be a negative run play

UGA needs to rush more than 4 on third down. Young was perfect on third down when UGA rushed 4. Was 2 of 8 when they brought 5 or more.

If UGA has any kind of chance, they’re gonna have to hit Young early and often.

I was proactive and took next Tuesday off of work. Have a couple days left over from last year I need to burn before the end of March anyways.

Last time UGA made the NCG, the game was played the night after my second day with my current company. Couldn’t really take off or call in the next day. Had to be up at 4 to make it to work by 5:30. Every radio station wanted to talk about the game, so I just turned the radio down and ran my dozer in silence. Longest day of work ever

Actually you want Bama leading at half because the best way to beat them is if they start throttling down. Bama is notorious for pulling up when they have a lead and struggle to get the machine back up.

If Georgia is within 14 at half they still have a shot. If they are up on Bama at half by less than 14 I don’t like their chances.

Scared Bama more dangerous than cocky Bama.

That sounds a lot like a dumb sports station debate I listened to on the way to Charlotte for the UGA-Clemson game “would you rather be up 10 or down 3 entering the 4th”.

I’d rather be in the lead every single time. I’d rather be the guy that flops two pair after the flop than the guy with the nut flush draw too

Question is if both teams played their best game who would win? If the answer is Bama then they have to beat themselves to lose. That question includes both talent, execution, and coaching.
The team that wanted to be there will win and the team that lost was looking at their draft grades.
