In South Bend? With a new QB, their most productive WR & half of last year’s Oline both gone?

God damn, you guys up in B1G country must have some really kickass weed. :hippie:

Yeah, not sure where he is coming from on this. I'm worried about that game. Going to be a coming of age game for the o line.

I just want everyone to be healthy and stay healthy. We had enough injuries last season for three seasons

I think Hartman will be the best Notre Dame QB we have seen in some time, yes it's only one game. He didn't get much respect or attention playing in the shitty ACC and Wake but he seemed pretty solid. Yes Navy is pretty bad but he was putting some throws on the money. Now we just have to see if he can do it against some of the better teams facing pressure.

Hartman will be ok for sure. Notre Dames issue even with Buchner was their WRs lack of ability to get separation and Mayer isn't there to bail them out this season.

Yea their WRs aren't overly impressive. Hartman is quite a bit better than the QBs they have had recently but the WRs/TEs don't scare me at all.

I want to see Hartman against some good to great teams. His passes were on the money especially in the first quarter and a half. They couldn't help but be on the money. Navy's pass defenders were nowhere around the receivers. My son, who just started paying attention to the ins and outs of football (especially defense) asked, "What type of defense is Navy in? Man or zone?" A friend of ours said, "Not sure, but whatever it is, they are nowhere near the receivers or the ball."

This. They kept comparing last years game where Navy blitzed every down in the second half last year and got 5 sacks. The difference was entirely the QB position. Pyne dropped back and had no clue where to throw it and couldn’t see the field.

Every time Navy brought pressure Hartman knew exactly where to put it and was able to make the throw. Been a while since we had that. Even Book, as good as he was, would panic.

Teams dared us to throw because of the weaknesses at QB. With our RB corp, the best tackle tandem in the country, and now a good QB, teams are going to have a hard time defending against this team.

They looked bad against a bad opponent. If there’s one thing I’ve been able to identify as a Michigan fan, it’s under performing against bad teams.
