The NCAA is interested in seeing the March Madness field possibly expand.

The NCAA Division I transformation committee released a report recommend major championship events with at least 200 eligible schools expand to 25% of possible participants. That means March Madness would go from a 68-team field to one featuring “as many as 90 teams,” according to ESPN.

The recommendations are far from a certainty and there’s no timeline on them happening. However, the NCAA clearly feels a larger tournament field is for the best.

Such a stupid idea.

There's no prestige to making the dance if everybody is at the dance.

HELL YEAH!!!

Make this bitch 150 teams

It's like they see what has happened with bowl games and didn't learn a thing. Do they want March Madness to start in January and no one care about it until the final 4?

Not a very big jump.

Adding play in games until it’s all of the 11-16 seeds gets it done.

88 teams instead of 90 would be cleaner. But saying 90 obviously has more pop.

It would give mid majors that don’t win their conference tourney some added national exposure. Good for the sport as much as it’d be a money maker. Would not bother me to see March Madness with 87 games instead of 67.
