It’s for 3 to 8 weeks to save cost. But get this it doesn’t include top executives so I guess they keep getting paid. The fuckers are essentially taking away 2 months of pay from 600 people but keep paying themselves.

I don’t have the words for how incredible wrong that is.
 
I love how they took such a "stable" approach with "3 to 8" weeks.

So which is it?

Or is it 6?

... maybe just 4

...possibly 8!

Pretty confusing....
 
They should have (if they didn't) instituted something like what a lot of athletic departments are doing. If you make over $x, your pay will temporarily be reduced by y%

I hope every single one finds new, better employment and when the NCAA comes calling they can all say F off

Looks like they have laid off some for 3 weeks, 4 weeks up to 8. So it’s not everyone for 3 or 8, it’s more like you were told how long it would be for you.

What pisses me off is the guys that make the most won’t miss a paycheck. No way I work for that organization.

Pretty sure I read where that is the approach Texas Tech used but the scale was sliding on the %, They elimnated 40 positions total (20 of which were budgeted but not filled yet.) If any remained that madeless than $30K/year they didn't receive a reduction. $30K-$60K got reduced by X %, $60K-$100K reduced by Y %..............

And, after all that and other savings like travel, etc, they were still millions short.

Whenever I see a big layoff like this I see a situation where there are too many people to begin with. The NCAA is a bloated bureaucracy that is rife with layers of people who are basically drones. If the truth be known, you could probably hire back 200 of the very best employees, make then work like they should, and run the thing quite well. And save a helluva lot of money.

The majority of their budget comes from March Madness and they lost that completely last year. They are on the cliff. I’m not saying they are a well run organization but even if they were fantastically run you can’t take an 85% to 90% hit that is the equivalent to a billion dollars and stay a float.

One thing is for sure and that is they are going to be hurting for years and top talent is going to be very skeptical to come work there. I’m betting in the 24 months the P5 schools come up with a plan to exit the NCAA and form their own championship systems. The value that the NCAA brought was as an oversight organization and assistance with post season and scheduling for all sports. Those functions are very much in question now.

schools will now be using an honor system.. So I expect Perkins to sit out the opening kickoff, then be immediately eligible to trot out with the starting defense a week from Saturday
 
Unless Mark Emmert was fired, it failed.
 
When this pandemic first started they were talking about furloughing for a couple weeks at a time on rotation, they severely lowballed our projections. We haven’t missed a day and we’re busier than we’ve ever been, still trying makeup for that projection that saw us limit production to the point where we nearly ran out of a lot of things.
