NCAA trying to stop multiple transfers

What do you think I'm scared of? I want kids being able to transfer every year if they want. I'd make it one transfer per season, though. With that comes NIL contracts with buyout clauses though, which just pushes this all to giving them actual contracts. I'm coming around to that as well. At least then it is out in the open, everyone knows what others are doing/getting, and schools and players both are accountable.
I said from the beginning if they are going to take money then they need to be under contract so no argument there.

If we aren’t going to put them under contract (which they will avoid like the plague) then there needs to be restrictions.

One free transfer per player is plenty and they can do it again but have to sit. I’m ok with giving them 6 years to play 4.

What you’re scared of is a few teams stock piling players 3 deep and if they get a free transfer that isn’t an issue.

I guess you could call it the JT Daniel’s rule

The NCAA just needs to basically unregulated rosters. This is a losing battle they're absolutely going to lose. Allow teams to have as many players as they want, kids can go wherever they want within certain transfer windows and let's move on. Teams have to have larger rosters to prepare for a ton of kids bolting, and you're not going to stop kids bolting by making the second team harder to bolt to.

Ill Allow It Spanish GIF

It never has been "even" so why pretend. NIL is going to make it even less so. Why even try to regulate it?

Whoever has the most/richest BMDs that are willing to fork it over are going to have stacked rosters. Hasn't it always been that way?

Hell, SMU got the death penalty for actions that are now encouraged! They were ahead of their time! Who'd a thunk it?

What is your reasoning behind them not being able to move more than once? I hope you aren't thinking about it from an academic standpoint because no one transferring >1 time is there for the education.

I'm not scared of anything, I just think it makes the entire CFB sport better to have more teams with top talent as starters and then solid talent for depth.

a fool and his money are soon parted. If some NIL group gives money to kids without restriction and for future performance then the kid bolts without actually "earning" it then so be it. Not my money. I make sure the groups I give to have strict rules in place about who gets the money.

This is fixed by giving the G5 their own league with their own championship/playoff. There's no way they'll be able to compete in this modern football world. These TV contracts the SEC and B10 are pulling in are going to change this forever.

True. And some of them are so wealthy they don't give a shit how much money they throw at their favorite toys. Hell, Bezos launched rockets into outer space from Van Horn frickin' Texas....just land back in the desert after a few minutes. What a ride!

Hell, you're talking TV contracts. That's the "leveled" portion of revenue. Do you think Purdue BMDs will be able to keep up with tOSU's? I don't....and Purdue ain't even in the lower P5 conferences or the G5s!

There will be some Phil Knights and T Boone Pickens of the world that will help out their schools, but even they can't keep up with the volume of many of the others.

I think we're actually going to be surprised by some of the smaller P5 schools when this gets going because some of those schools have a lot of money, they just couldn't convince recruits to go to West Lafayette Indiana. I also think the transfer portal is going to give those schools life -- getting the rejects at the top 5 schools can often work wonders. Look what happened at USC this year. It was instantaneous, and all it took was a ton of money. Not saying USC is Purdue, but even look at Michigan State with Kenneth Walker.

You have guys that have done the following:
1. Lost the job in Spring so they quit right there and go into the portal
2. Even started early in the season lost their job quit and went into the portal and went to another team

The above has to stop as that is disruptive to practice schedules and honestly in the long run it hurts the individuals

Then we have players that are now:
1. Putting themselves in the portal to "auction off their services"
2. Holding teams hostage for bigger NIL deals
3. Leaving at the drop of a hat because their feelings are hurt

Again the above needs to stop and the coaches need to have some type of leverage on 18 year-olds or this will go to shit.

Your point about giving teams the ability to get the best talent they can to be competitive is a good one but that should be accomplished with 1 free transfer because what we are seeing with the JT Daniels and Joey Gatewoods of the world has gotten ridiculous. Now if they want to move down a division in competition or have graduated that should be free game but other than that one free transfer is enough.

You don't have to agree but if you don't then you are wrong.

I think everything you have a concern about I also do, which is why I proposed signing them all to one year deals. Once you sign you can't go play for someone else, so figure it out or sit it out. Your list of things that "players are doing now" is exactly 100% what the real world is like. Every employee in corporate America has all three of those items going for them, so wouldn't it be a good life skill to provide to a college aged kid? I can go on any number of recruiting websites and "auction off my services", if I have specific SME level knowledge I can hold my company hostage to pay me more or I'll go somewhere else, and if someone pisses me off I can quit right now.

and your little foot-stomping "agree with me or you are wrong" bullshit is cute.

I work hard for “cute” it’s my thing.

The one year deal makes sense to a degree but it doesn’t stop the “auction block” type behavior we are now seeing that is only going to grow. I honestly don’t think it’s in college footballs interest to have guys putting themselves up to the highest bidder each year.

Honestly it makes me miss the days all of this was in the shadows and people had to be discreet.
