GAME Nebraska @ Illinois | 8.28.2021 | FOX | 12:00 p.m.

I get on her acting all outraged on behalf of Nebraska fans on the Hoop, but secretly, I’m....

You see 3 wins? I see maybe Fordham and Buffalo. Who else do you think THIS team will beat?

You may be right. Fordham and Buffalo are for sure wins. I'd say Purdue is probably on the same level as Illinois. They get them at home, so maybe that's where the other one comes from. I also think NW takes a huge step back.

Not likely.

I'm more worried about a Buffalo 'letdown' in week 3 looking ahead to Oklahoma in week 4.

Nebraska is (6-2) against Illinois since joining the Big 10. The other loss being in Mike Riley's first year.
This is not a Bret Bielema Wisconsin, but more likely a Bret Bielema Arkansas.

Nebraska's 'culture' since Riley took over is to lay a giant egg after a win. Their next game is wrought with penalties and turnovers.
Nebraska had 5 turnovers against Illinois last year.

Regarding 'culture' in Lincoln.....Instead of building on success, the players spend the following week with their heads in the clouds from all the "They finally get it", "They've finally turned the corner" praise from the fans and local media. The entire week is spent eating $5 Little Caesar 'Hot & Now's and banging Suzy Rottencrotch between hours and hours of xBox play. Only the bare minimums (mandatory team requirements) are put into developing themselves as individuals.
When they lose they get criticized all week, put in more effort, and have a better outing.

Being game one I'm not worried and I think the Huskers get a nice win. If this game were 'following a win' I'd be highly concerned.
Whether Frost has been able to fix that 'culture' issue has yet to be seen. It could very well rear it's ugly head against Buffalo.
Congrats. You now get Beth Mowren and Lou Holtz as your announcers for the rest of the season.

And that's not how football used to be. I mean, how many of us on here played football and how many of us were told to 'wrap up and finish the tackle'. Of course, I disagree with most targeting calls as well.

Pussifying the sport on full display right there.
Well, they're trying to reduce injuries and concussions.

Is what it is.

The AP recap on CBS actually wants you to believe this was a good performance by both teams. Must have watched a different game.

I put all my vcash on Illinois money line, cuz I’m a god damned genius, and Nebraska sucks.

It was a week 1 performance. Both teams were awful in the first half. Illinois came out on fire in the 2nd half and that was the difference. Nebraska looked alright when they were pressing and Illinois was trying to preserve the win but that's common in that type of situation.

Nebraska's last half of the 4th was awful. They needed to score quick and make a defensive stop but the took their time. The mismanagement of timeouts during that drive and Illinois trying to kill the clock sealed their fate.

They probably win that game 7 times out of 10 but they gifted Illinois multiple scores in the first half and had no sense of urgency when coming back.

At least they outhit Illinois... right, Scott?
