I was thinking about Mark Stoops and how why other programs haven't gone after him. OU made some sense last year but I think Brent Venerables was a better grab for OU's system.

However, Stoops playtime fits Nebraska and B1G West. It seems like a match made in heaven. Look at what Stoops has done at Kentucky. With time, he could make Nebraska tough and physically opposing again for opponents and I think that could bring respectability back to Nebraska.

It would be a smart move since the B10 west is atrocious and obviously wouldn't take much to win it. As good as he is at UK he's taken them as far as he could. He's never winning the SEC coaching at a basketball school

They would have to pay him a ton of money. He is set to make 8 million/yr at some point in his contract

He isn't going anywhere.
He's doing great where he is and Nebraska provides zero opportunity to do better.

It's like thinking Dabo will go to Alabama when Nick leaves.
Just isn't going to happen.

This is his money year. If he can maintain performance, he's getting a big contract from someone.

This is perfect, NU hires an outstanding hire in Stoops then UK takes their long lost brother Neal back home for a true family homecoming. It just makes sense.

Not sure he would take it

This. I don't think he'd leave for Nebraska.

Scott Frost was supposed to be 'the guy', and he's now on the chopping block.

Stoops, at this point, has a machine working, is getting paid, is getting recruits and respect, and could likely suffer from a couple of bad seasons and still have a job.

He just became the winningest coach at UK last night, passing Bear Bryant, I don't think he'll leave.

It’ll have to be someone that is in stable/good position and a historically good program. NU doesn’t fit that first part right now but things can change. I could see stoops leaving for an FSU or LSU type.

Not FSU. I think their facilities are still pretty shit.

LSU for sure, but again, he's getting paid and is treated like royalty. I'm not sure why he'd ever leave.

Nebraska needs Texas talent to win. Midwest talent all goes to Ohio, rest is crap. Hire Jeff Traylor. UTSA coach, doing an outstanding job. Been in Texas HS coaching circles since late 80s. That's your guy.

Well since he broke the Bear's record for wins at Kentucky maybe HE replaces Nick at Bama!

It could happen........

Nebraska seems to have trouble finding coaches like Tennessee but it really doesn't make sense. I feel like a halfway competent coach could win there and they are not that hard on new coaches. Look at the patience they had with Scott Frost.

The B1G West is crap and they should be in contention for that division almost every year.

I do think Nebraska would have trouble with the four B1G East powers or winning at a national level but I don't think Nebraska fans even want that at the moment, they just want respectability.

Sam Pitman is another guy that has really impressed me.

He would be a great fit as well. Nebraska needs a coach that preaches toughness and just runs a physical and emotional style of play like Stoops and Pittman.

It would be a smart move.

Stoops has done a good job at Kentucky.....like Tom Allen with Indiana.

If Nebraska doesn't open up the checkbook, none of it will happen

It would be a massive step down

He'd be going into a far tougher place to win. Plus he's probably like royalty at Arky right now after such a quick turnaround after Chad Morris had turned them into the SEC West's version of Vandy.

Nebraska needs Art Briles.

They need the innovative offense, the recruiting skill and the hookers.
