New SEC Alignment

We paid up. Did you forget that little part?

“Wahh Wahh you won’t let us break our contract for free” -thiefty
never was going to be free.. but if the rumor Barbacoa said is true.. then I blame Fox.

Are you sure the contract ends if they leave? I was under the impression you got paid through the end of the contract regardless. That’s why everyone was saying stay put.

It would be negotiated I’m sure. I would bet anything the latest Texas and OU stay B12 is the 2022-2023 school year.

The fucking B12 should nut up and hold firm on that 2024 date. It’s more money and you keep that power designation. It shouldn’t be fox making them do anything. But likely, it is.

This allows the B12 more time to try and get the 4 G5’s here for 2023. Its likely too late for that to happen in 2022 and what happens, we have an 8 team conference? That really wouldn’t work. It’d be very hard to get 2 more OOC opponents with a 50% loss of revenue.
It worked for us, then we decided to pick up the Southern Welfare Conference and those fuckers killed the conference... hence where you are now..

Not so much the conference as the out of conference games for next year. We’d need to pick up 2 and I’m not sure ADs will want to be cutting huge checks (to G5’s) knowing their next big check they get will be 50% less then it was.

But hell we are already screwed, myswell go the full way in.

From a difficulty perspective, History is probably a bigger factor (as well as current program situation). Think of it like how the NCAA Football games used to rank programs with the stars and the factors they used. That is a great sample.

So from the NEW SEC perspective, these teams would be considered tough:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas

Mid-Tier
Arkansas
Ole Miss
South Carolina
Texas A&M

Bottom\Low-Tier

Kentucky
Missouri
Mississippi State
Vanderbilt

There isn't a fine science to all of this as teams like Arkansas and Kentucky are up right now while Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee are down. However, this is the way they would likely see things from a scheduling balance perspective.
I enjoy your posting ... one of the best here. But you Homered big time here. Until you guys actually start winning again, you aren't in that top tier. You have a winning record 3 times in the last 12 years, and you've lost 6-8 games in 9 of those 12 years. You are 3-36 against your main 3 rivals in that time period. You may be on your way back to glory, but you aren't there yet.

IMO, from a competitive perspective, it would be below. I've also put an asterisk by the schools that would be deemed the most desirable from "eyeball" games. I know you aren't going to like that I didn't put your team there, but your numbers are way down right now and won't get better until you start winning again.

Top Tier:
Alabama*
Florida*
Georgia*
LSU*
Oklahoma*

Mid-Tier
Auburn* (weird ... they are nattys or bust)
Texas A&M*
Texas*
Ole Miss

Low-Tier
Arkansas
South Carolina
Tennessee
Kentucky
Missouri
Mississippi State

Bottom
Vanderbilt

Auburn’s played in two national championships and won the West three times in the last eleven years. Make no mistake we are a top tier SEC program. Gus set us back but he still played for one natty and won the West twice.

Until you beat Bama take a step back to tier two.

Nah, we are top tier. Not beating one team isn't what Top Tier means.

You will note that your team is the only one that I commented on. I had you top tier for the reasons you mention, and I had a asterisk by your name as being one of the Big 8 that will drive the TV money in 2 years. I have no objection to someone saying you should be in the top tier. The reason I had you in the top of the next tier down is because, as I noted, you guys are natty or bust.

In the 11 years you reference, you have a 14-0 with a NC due to a generational player 11 years ago, then a 12-2 8 years ago. In the other 9 years you have lost 48 games, or a little over 5 losses per year. You lost 9 games 2 years after the natty, and the year before you played for it again. Sorry, but that isn't top tier to me.

You aren't UTjr, and I put you in the Big 8 of the SEC - AU, UA, UGA, LSU, UF, TAMU, UT, and OU. But your inconsistency doesn't compare with the other teams I have in the Top Tier.

We owned the 80’s, swapped back and forth with LSU in the 90s, undefeated season in the 00’s, natty in 04, close finish in 13, won the west in 17.

Your getting a little big for your britches with one natty 40 years ago.

I think you have fail to see what rankings we were talking about. Per the post I was responding to - "So from the NEW SEC perspective, these teams would be considered tough:" - in this context, no one cares what you did in the 80s, or that we haven't won a NC since 1980. The point of the post was what are the SEC Tiers right now. Staying on point, I have you positioned perfectly, IMO.

Now, if you want to start a post about who was good in the 80s, or some other nonsense like that, we can look at the numbers and do that. But that isn't what this thread is about.

As for getting too big for my britches, 13-3 in the last 16 games with you guys. We own the series with you guys. This is almost getting as bad as UF owning us in the 90s and early 00s. And I believe we have the best record except for Bama in the past 5 years. My britches are fitting just fine.

Dude swap Auburn and Georgia in the divisions and you guys don’t sniff the SECCG. You’ve hidden behind a schedule loaded with Mizzou, Vandy, SC, KY, TN and a down Florida. Once we go to Pods things will evened out and you‘re not going to be able to dodge the big boys.

It’s a joke that you don’t play a West schedule and think your shit doesn’t stink.

yeah seeing them in tier 1 is funny since they haven't won a championship in like 40 years? Guess recruiting rankings factor in?

It’s their mindset. When they don’t win it’s always because they were screwed and when their good they are intolerable.

He is trying to harp on the last 5 years and crowning himself as some kind of blue blood and they literally have one SEC championship in the last 15 years.

Ok, you've gone off the deep end because I properly placed where Auburn is right now, and where UGA is right now. Now you want to bring up the schedules. SMH. You can't make a cogent argument why you belong in the top tier, so type 1980, claim you were good in the 80s, and that we don't play an SEC W schedule. Moving on to people who want rational discussion.

BTW, we do play one team in the West every year. We own them. Won 13 of the last 16. I am drawing a blank on the name of that teams ... oh, yeah, Auburn, your team. Quit swinging on the balls of the SECW and show up on Saturday. Then you can trash talk.

For fucks sake ... the discussion is what are the tiers in the SEC today ... are you really going to say we aren't in the top tier? Because that would be just stupid as shit. You are normally a rational poster ... damn, dropping you a tier set you off to the point you can't think. And then teaming up with Thief? I mean his team is the most underwhelming team in CFB there is.

BTW, I never said anything about Blue Blood status. We aren't Blue Bloods, by definition, nor are you. And we are talking the exact opposite of Blue Blood status ... we are talking about today's Tiers ... you are the one that brought up 1980 and said you were dominant in the 80s.

You do realize the discussion is what are the Tiers today, right? If I ranked you wrong, where do you think Tejas should be? This should be telling.

What Tier Texas is in? Son we are the entire Pyramid. #HookEm

Here is where the tiers are:

Tier 1 - Had to have won a natty in the last 20 years:

Alabama
LSU
Auburn
Florida
Texas
Oklahoma

Tier 2 - Won a natty at least in the last 30 years:

Tennessee
(We’ll also note GT as a footnote)

Tier 3 - Won a natty in the last 40 years

Georgia (although after this year you’ll fall out to tier 4
