New SEC Alignment

Pods are better than Divisions, and this is better than pods.
Aren’t Pods just small divisions? I mean, a division is just a specific segment of a larger group.

Or are we taking about Orca whales?

Divisions are larger, and that means you would play the non division opponents less often. Pods would have you play fhe non-pod opponents more often.
also, Divisions would have the division winners go to the ccg.
pods would have the two best records go to the ccg.
so, yeah, there are significant differences that make pods better than DIVISIONS.
QED.

My memory ain't too swift and I can't nail down an exact time frame but I think you are about right. The amount of money became more significant when Oklahoma won their suit...and rightly so. Texas, A&M and Arkansas didn't think the rest of the SWC had enough drawing power to increase their pot of money. So Arkie went to the SEC, four SWC teams joined the Big 8. Money accelerated again with the start of the FBS. And then media offerings went up and the CFP really sent it up again. Realignment was all about money one way or the other. Either "we aren't getting our share, someone is getting more than their share, our total pot isn't increasing fast enough to keep up, etc..........."

So smaller divisions, but a gayer name for them?

And no killer whales, whatsoever, that’s gay.

can't wait for the UT/LSU game, it was a good time in Austin meeting up with LSU fans.. Can't wait to take a trip to BR
Which reminds me. UT owes LSU a home game. So it could turn out that the first two games for UT in the SEC against LSU could be in BR.

Anyway , to UT fans and OU fans, welcome aboard! :beer2:
This is gonna be fun.

Not how pods work … play your pod (3 games), 2 teams from the other 3 pods (6 games). Next year play the other 6 teams in the other pods.

9 teams each year.

No more or less balanced than divisions.

Playing teams every other year way better than every 6 years like we do now.
That is an issue. One team in you pod could play the 2 toughest teams from other pods, while you play the 2 weakest. It’s a random generator scheduling system. Honestly, I would rather go to 20 teams and play 9 teams every year and meet the the other side in playoffs (I would bet the SEC would get a waiver for a 4 team conference playoff for the money). The idea that you are going to play everyone in a large conference is just a childish thought.

Codaxx, there's sure to be occasions when someone would get an easy peasy schedule while someone else had to slog through a harder schedule. But I want to join the SEC so I can play everybody at least on a semi-regular basis, not just the same old teams year after year after year like we've had to do in the Big XII. It gets too boring. I am willing to risk the occasional extra tough year to enjoy going to new cities and seeing a whole bunch of new teams coming to Norman.

Just depends on the teams you are playing.

Need some help from you old school sec hicks and hillbillies

what if the organizational scheme was:
Each team has two perm rivals they play each year, and rotate home and aways with all other teams in the conference.

TEXAS: OU and TAMU
OU: TX and MIZZOU
TAMU: TEXAS and LSU
AUBURN: BAMA and UGA
UGA: AUBURN and FLORIDA
LSU: TAMU and OLE MISS
MIZZOU: OU and ARKANSAS
ARKANSAS: MIZZOU and KENTUCKY
OLE MISS: MISS ST and LSU
MISS ST: OLE MISS and BAMA
KENTUCKY: TENN and ARKANSAS
TENNESSEE: VANDY and KENTUCKY
VANDY: TENN and SCAR
BAMA: MISS ST and AUBURN
SCAR: FLORIDA and VANDY
FLORIDA: UGA and SCAR

this seems fair. The only potential change I might make is have MISS ST play TAMU and therefore LSU play BAMA.
This guy did the work of having three perm rivals:

Please explain to me what part of what I wrote is BS and use words like an adult not emoticons like a child.
Playing UGA and FL is not GROSSLY unfair in this scheme. You’re still rotating 7 other schools. And also TX and OU play traditionally WAY HARDER OOC scheds.

WTF are you jabbering about.

No one cares what your OOC schedule is and the only reason you play harder (and that’s very debatable) is because your conference schedule sucks. You don’t get SEC money stacking the deck in your favor so get that shit out of your brain. Pods will be made as equal as they can be and that’s a fact.

Welcome to a big boy league where BS is BS and if want Ws then you’ll have to earn them. Bringing up OOC games in regards to conference scheduling is full retard thinking.

You’re an idiot.

Go ahead and compare schedule strength for both Texas and Auburn for the last 10 years. I doubt you have a stronger schedule in any of them.

The best part is that we don't have to talk trash about it. Texas is going to play an SEC schedule soon and we get to see it live on the field.

What do you want to bet Texas first year schedule will be Mississippi St, Vandy, South Carolina, Tenn., Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Kentucky?
