I told my kids to make it to the legal ages before diving into stuff. Neither have issues, and neither use nicotine. My son drinks very little. My daughter doesn't drink, and smokes pot sometimes. I don't see either having life long issues with chemical dependency.Fuck man...I've always thought of you as a god damn good dad, a real do as I say not as I did kinda guy...raising great kids to be great adults. Then you post this and just turned the volume up to 11.

I was honest with my kids. I have always had hard talks with them. It wasn't "do as I say, not as I do". It was "this is why I have issues, don't do it to yourself." It was also convincing them that the kids that seemed popular, and were fucking around with drugs/sex/alcohol, were going to be losers very soon. "Don't let your life peak in highschool. If highschool is the greatest part of your life, youre a loser"
