This. Unless someone goes 2-8 and is just clearly over their head it won't happen. Even then, how many schools are going to have the cash to pay a buyout and drop a ton on a splash hire?

Even then 2-8 will depend on circumstance, how many starters are playing how many starters just got back from recovering who they lose to and how etc. I just dont see any program firing their HC. when i look at the "hot seat" rankings for coaches i just dont see them losing their position barring something nutty and probably not football related.

Agree. That's why I said clearly over his head. There is too much funny stuff that can happen this season to necessitate a change

Look, every achool in the country and I mean every single one would have given up a lot for Rattler, he was the no 1 qb recruit in the country. He needs a fn haircut of some sort but it was his 1st start against a d1 team

Probably. With a Freshman quarterback you have to expect growing pains. Rattler tightened up late in this one. If he gets over it you'll be fine. If he doesn't, it's a first time starter thing. Being pissed about what Riley has done is just silly

What there is no excuse for is continuing to struggle on defense to teams that a lot of others have no problems with.

With the work Lawrence, Tua and Fromm did as true freshmen, I'm not gonna take it easy on a redshirt freshman.

They are the exception. Rattler is a 5* guy so he's going to be good, but he didn't have a real spring or fall camp so he kinda gets a pass if he wasn't great late.

Besides this one is more on the defense completely melting down than anything. 24 unanswered shouldn't happen if you are OU

5 star doesn't automatically mean good. There's been plenty of 5 star busts. That QB that transferred from Clemson to Northwestern was a 5 star recruit, same with Jacob Eason and plenty of others

Can't believe I'm defending powder but he was absolutely perfect when the game was in control. It got tight and he got tight. I kind of expected that this year-at some point ou has to take a step back at quarterback and this year with a new starter seems like it could happen.

Trust me, I wouldn't mind him transferring out to a D2 school because he can't hack it, but it's a little early to throw in the towel
