“No big deal, I’m the governor, but maybe a bigger deal is I’m the chair of the UC Regents, I read about it,” he said. “Is it a good idea? Did we discuss the merits or demerits? I’m not aware of it anyway. It was done in isolation, it was done without any regental oversight or support. It was done without any consideration to my knowledge. Now, perhaps there was a deep conversation with other chancellors and presidents in the system and impact more broadly. Not just to the UCs, but to other universities, including Stanford University.”

“I have strong opinions about this, for no other reason than as a member of the Regents, we were never consulted,” Newsom said. “Never asked for an opinion, in the name of the decent to provide head’s up. So trust me when I say this: We’re not going to be looking into it, we already are looking into it within minutes of reading about this in the newspaper.”

All this guy does is cry all the time.

What a beta male. And he will be presidential candidate in 2024. FML.

Hey Gavin
Would you have approved the move, or are you just Butt Hurt they didn't ask you.
It seems obvious that his 'vote' wasn't needed or asked for.

He ain’t wrong about this. Like him or not, he should have known about it before it happened.
Pretty confident that if there was a legal requirement that he be informed of it, he would have been informed. Lawyers looked at this. They kept it from him because he is a piece of shit politician (but, I am being redundant) who would have had no problem going public with it to try and kibosh it. Fuck him.

Hey Gavin
What was the alternative ???

Did the article mention some of his financial solutions for UCLA ??
I'm thinking it didn't.
The Irony is that Newsome caused at least half if not more of UCLA's financial problems. I would give the PAC policies about 25% of the blame and the UCLA Athletic Department 25%.

How much has he been 'tested' in that One Party State

He survived a recall vote.

I'm not pro-Newsom by any means, but if the choice was between him and Kamala Harris, I'd prefer Newsom.

My optimal choices to pick from would be Kasich if he changes parties, Bloomberg and Klobuchar if they decide to run again.

The 3-term governor here, Jay Inslee, could be a dark horse on the Dem side, except he's an extreme climate wacko.

Would be one hell of a thing if the board of regents killed the move. I've no idea if they have that power or not but the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees (Alabama's version of the California Board of Regents) killed UAB football for a couple of years for political reasons. Public outcry made them reverse the decision because this was an orchestrated vengeance move for comments Gene Bartow had made about Bear Bryand and Paul Bryant Jr controlled the board.

Oregon would be on cloud 9 because that would open the door wide for them. I'd be throwing some money at Newsome to reverse the decision if I was Phil Knight because that would be more effective than cold-calling conferences.
