Newsome Pissy About UCLA Moving To The B1G

Newsom is grandstanding and isn’t going to do shit. Sorry Oregon.

Newsom’s “principal advisor on education” claims that he “understands the benefits” but that “student-athlete mental health” is one of the governor’s concerns:

“Newsom understands the benefits to UCLA and its right to pursue the deal but is troubled by its actions as a public university with an obligation to be transparent and accountable.

Fuck him but I am rooting for him on this. Use the full power of your office to fuck UCLA into a the white affluent community college. SC has earned the right to tell us to pound sand, UCLA is irrelevant in football and outside of a nice final 4 run two years ago they have been irrelevant in basketball. Stanford makes sense, not the pussies in powder blue

:pound:"Student Athlete Mental Health" is his concern? "Student Athlete", at least in football and basketball, is a misnomer anyway. :twitch:

And if he actually "understands the benefits to UCLA and its right to pursue the deal", the he needs to shut his whiney, woke, SJW ass up and let them do their thing... :heh:

Yeah. Sounds like he's just yelling to make it seem like he's doing something but ultimately isn't going to do shit about anything because he knows financially there's no way to argue that this doesn't make sense for UCLA. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU"RE GOING TO GET$70 MILLION MORE PER YEAR!!! HOW DARE YOU!!!!"

Talk to me like I'm 12, but why is Newsome complaining about them joining a conference where the fans are more likely to travel, to actually fill the seats in the stadium, pumping millions of dollars more into California. Not to mention the direct financial benefit to UCLA to make the move. Was he looking to get some sort of corrupt handjob on the deal under the table?

Good old Gavin Newsom. The guy who's gonna run for Prez in 2024. From the same state that has produced paragons of virtue like Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris and Diane Feinstein. What percentage of Californians are UCLA fans? 5%? Maybe less? The rest either have another favorite team or don't care at all. We'll just have to see if there is any political advantage to the Guv making UCLA squirm. Forget common sense, fairness or anything positive being a factor here.

1. It may put the future of the entire PAC 12 at risk which could severely impact Cal and Stanford. That's a legitimate reason for being concerned.

2. It gives him a stage to show off by questioning the move. That's a political reason.

3 It may eventually lead to a negative impact on the status of California's precious Rose Bowl. That is a business and state pride reason.

TL;DR -- because he's president of the board of regents and no one asked them, so he's pissy.

They just want their pound of flesh.. and for it to be broadcasted for everyone to see. They can't touch a private school, so they will go for the public one. It's the same shit the loser representatives in TX did for their alma maters like TCU, Baylor, Tech.. all blaming Texas for not "taking care" of their schools.

Because he's a typical full of shit liberal who thinks he has more power than he actually does. This idiot will comment on anything and pretend he has a say in things he doesn't if it gets him in front of a camera or will get quoted in the paper.

Seems like he is learning that A. Most folks seem to support the move, if for no other reason than the extra $70 million per year that it will put in their bank account and B. He doesn't have the power to do shit about it.

That's why he's switching from "We're looking into what we can do about it" to "Well, they weren't transparent". lol

In short, he likes to think he's "in the know" and he wasn't.

Cowherd made a great point about Newsome...

He was all about the NIL, paying college players, railed against "amateurism" and even tried to enact legislation allowing college players in California to be paid before NIL was enacted...

but he wants to complain that UCLA wants to move to a conference that will pay them over 3x the tv revenue so they don't have to run with an athletic dpartment that's in debt every year.

I especially like this part.
I am not a Californian but from everything I’ve heard that is what UCLA would be if Newsome goes after them….but @trojanfan12 says otherwise and he is way more educated on the subject than I so I concede.
