November 17 Is National Unfriend Day

A lot of those things you can access with a Google account now, too

What kind of things would you be missing out of if you just zapped Facebook?

Yea there is just a lot of random stuff that basically requires a FB profile

I think Doordash used to require a FB account, before they allowed Apple/Google logins too.

It just annoys me to no end having to deal with Facebook because people are often too stupid or lazy to research alternatives. Like for our hockey leagues/skates, there's an app called "OpenSports", which allows you to sign up, it allows teams to be formed, it allows people to claim certain positions (goalies are free in most skates...) and allows money to be collected through the app...all free... but nope, manchildren gotta have the app with their saweeeet friend counts.

Me, personally? Mainly brewery events. Some other events at local places, too. Most of that gets double posted to Instagram, though, so if I had just one I'd catch them.

I am part of a group that shares hockey streams (don't have cable), which is useful sometimes, too.

That’s cool, I have attendee many beer events without the aid of Facebook but whatever works. I suppose I understand the convenience of groups of people with similar interests.

Big events wouldn't be too big of an issue, but it makes it a lot easier to keep up.

I had a friend that gave up Facebook for a year or two. There were numerous times we'd be talking, and I'd ask "are you going to such-and-such" and he didn't know anything about it, and he was 3x deeper into the beer scene than I am

You gotta text him. I stay in the loop with people from my high school decades later simply by being close with 2 of them. Any info eventually gets filtered to me by one of them.

Oh, another thing that is been useful for this year is checking to see what hours and policies places have. Sometimes it's on their websites, but sometimes those aren't very clear
