Sucks. I would say to rake back a "bay" at a time. One section between the studs at a time, and push it back, systematically. Don't just start throwing shit around randomly.

Do it in the morning.

If you have a 20" box fan, it may sit in the attic access opening and blow fresh air into the attic while up there. Open a window or door to let air in the house. This will help push the dust out of the attic vents, help with visibility, and keep you cooler, as well as providing a place to take off the respirator for a minute here and there to give you relief Without having to come down.

Take a trash bag up with you for when you find it.

Watch your fucking head! Those sheathing nails hurt like a bitch.
