Forget about the weekend series to close the season, this is for the playoff spot. Whichever team wins this series will own the head-to-head tiebreaker. If the Mets win 2 of 3, they will clinch one of the wildcards. If the Braves sweep or go 2-1, they will have the upper hand going into the KC series. Mets would close the season on the road at Milwaukee, needing to sweep, most likely. There's an outside chance they both make the playoffs if the Diamondbacks go on a losing streak.

Mets without Lindor and McNeil, Braves missing Riley and Acuna.

Both teams have won 4 of their last 5. Mets are 7-3 in their last ten, Braves are 6-4. Season series is 5-5. Mets have score 49 runs in their head to head matchups, Braves have scored 47.

Baseball is dead to me, but the playoffs are already here.

It’s a must sweep for the Braves to pass the Mets. Winning two of three, they’d still be a game back, but would hold the tiebreaker.

Royals come to town after the Mets. Braves are closer to the Dbacks right now at 1.5 games back, Braves will also be big Giants fans

All involved would have pretty well already clinched a spot if they had the same records and played in the AL.

All have already won more games than last year’s third NL WC spot won

And with the way the starters have pitched, I don’t think anyone really wants to face either in the playoffs

In that scenario, I'd have more confidence that the Braves could win 2 of 3 vs KC than the Mets could win 2 of 3 against Brewers. But also, both the Royals and Brewers may have nothing else to play for by then. That's why I think this series is all that matters.

If Atlanta comes out and wins big tonight, that could wreck the Mets' confidence.

The Royals have been free falling, but will likely still be in the AL WC picture, while it’s likely the Brewers will have locked up their spot as hosting the WC round

Braves best chances are taking two of three from the Mets and hoping the Padres are still alive for the division

Agreed with the final statement which is why I don’t understand why Sale isn’t pitching on normal rest tonight. Schwellenbach has been good, and he has great against the Mets the last time, but he’s still a rookie and who knows how he’s gonna respond to the pressure. I think he either tosses another gem or the game is over before the Braves get to bat

His previous game against the Mets, Schwellenbach went 7 innings, 11K's, 2 hits, no runs, no walks.

Sale's last outing against NY wasn't that bad, 7.1, 2H, 2R, 9K, 1BB. Set up well for a 2-0 start or a nice rebound game at worst. And Sale is 10-0 at home?!

As always with this team, is can they score enough runs for the pitching to matter

What happens if the Mets, Braves and Dbacks all finish with the same record?

Braves would have tiebreakers over both

Now would be a great time for JD Martinez to rejoin the Mets offense. Cant keep relying on Nimmo and Vientos to carry the load.

Mets have the tiebreaker over Arizona, so I think they would be odd team out.

I think now would be a great time for Ozuna to find his power stroke again. He’s still hitting for average, but one homer over the last month.

But if you’re pitchers are in a jam, Arcia and Murphy are essentially pitchers spotd

And depending on Helene’s track, Thursday(and Friday) might be a complete washout, so there’s a chance this drama continues until Monday

Oh come on...Thursday is already a re-schedule of a game from April

Personally, even though it would likely cost the Braves a chance at the playoffs, I think rainouts at any stadium built after 2000 should just go as a forfeit for the home team for rainouts being possible in a modern built stadium

Detroit won again, putting more pressure on KC (and Minnesota).

Y'all might have a real dog fight over the weekend

We’re 9-3 against the AL Central this year(two of those losses against the White Sox)

I’ll worry about the Royals when they get here. There’s a real chance that series doesn’t mean anything for us because we’re eliminated

Just saw the weather report, tonight might be the only game played

Yeah, tomorrow is looking worse than what was forecasted this morning

They’re calling for like 6 inches of rain Thursday and Friday.

Might have to get a miserable, wet game in tomorrow to avoid a double header on Monday

Just go ahead and play two tonight, this first one is moving at a good clip

Here's the first good chance for Atlanta. More keystone bumbling from the defense
