Off-season transactions thread

Reds got very little for Wade Miley and Sonny Gray. What a shitty front office.
Suarez and Winker also traded away for very little. Complete tank job due to the new CBA. And with a draft lottery, not even sure they will get one of the top picks to rebuild. These trades weren’t about rebuilding. Just saving money quickly.

Rizzo back to the Yankees. They’re out on Freeman now too.

Dodgers, Red Sox, Padres, Blue Jays and Rays still in on him

just don't get it, and it's not like they're in a brutal division.
I don’t either. They just had a rebuild, had a pretty good young core and were contenders for a WC spot last year, and then they tear it all down. NL Central winner is gonna have an inflated record because of the Reds and Pirates

Sounds like the Jays are about to get Matt Chapman. I’m assuming that would take them out of the Freeman sweepstakes

Ownership is very cheap. Was one of the four owners against the raising of the CBT.

Would be awesome, but not sure they'd fork out that much.
If he goes to the Rays, I’d take that as a sign they’re moving to Montreal given Freddie’s Canadian heritage

Yeah. We bitch about Liberty Media a lot, and while we don’t spend like we did in the Ted Turner days, at least they don’t treat us like the Reds/Pirates/Orioles/Ray’s/A’s

Just don’t get it. I liked seeing a reinvigorated Reds squad last year. Would just hate to be a fan of teams like this.

Don’t know. Would probably rather be a fan of a team I could only be pleasantly surprised by than be a fan of a team that spends “stupid money”, yet has the longest playoff drought in NL and has a strange love affair with Odubel Herrera

Schwarber to the Phillies. Their new Carlos Santana

Even with the down year offensively, he still managed 3+ WAR because of the glove. I think the bat will rebound but I do worry about the spike in his K% over the last two seasons. But if he rebounds to 2019 levels, they've got a star.

Brewers signed Andrew McCutchen. Nothing to holler about but he is a major league player. Still hits left handers well.

He’s probably the best defensive 3B in the game and has a lot of power. I’m a fan. Before the Olson trade, I tossed out the idea of trading for him and moving Riley to first

Disagree. I would rather be in drought land than getting hopes up only to have them crushed by shitheads.

On a side note…it’s really nice to see that graceful champion Braves fan thing. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen it.

Seiya Suzuki to cubs for 5 years
