Lol @the jealous poors crying.

Not the Dodgers fault your teams ownership won't spend.

You should stop crying about the Dodgers and start bitching at your ownership.

Fuck the Dodgers.

Although I do admit, I still get a chuckle out of watching Yankees fans reactions to *that* fifth inning.

Kinda easy to say when your team is located in one of the largest media markets in the country. No way a team like the Pirates could ever spend that much without losing their asses.

Except that we have seen teams win World Series or at least, make it to the World Series that aren't from one of the largest media markets. They just have to do it a little differently.

For example, we've seen teams spend like drunken sailors for a couple of seasons signing a bunch of high profile players, get their World Series run and then have a "fire sale" the next off-season.

The owners of these teams are billionaires and can certainly afford to do something like that from time to time.

In the NBA, the Cleveland Cavs and OKC Thunder currently have the top 2 records in the league, they aren't from large markets, but are among the favorites to win the title. They've done it mainly by building through the draft, making smart trades (often taking bad contracts to get draft picks) and using those assets to draft or trade for players that fit. They both look like they will be contenders for the next 4-5 years or longer.

Also, it's not always about the market. The Angels are from essentially the same market as the Dodgers. They had both Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout...then chose to not put enough around them to field a contender.

End of the day, sports are like real estate in that it's often about location, location, location. If you're a team from a less desirable location, you have to work a little differently or relocate.
