Bookie:
$ 1,000.00

The numbers talked about in this is crazy to me. CFB is turning into who is willing to pay the most money and not who have the best coaches, fans, academics, campus and facilities.

OSU offered him $500,000, but fell $1.3 million short of the Georgia offer. CRAZY. Pretty soon, these kids will make more money in college than they do in the pros.

lol those numbers are inflated

Ohio State offered? Georgia offered? Schools are not supposed to have any direct involvement with NIL deals. Nothing stopping the bagmen anymore but schools should still be off limits.

I'm thinking they are talking about the "collectives". I'm guessing it is pretty common knowledge these kids are coming with demands and the coaching staffs work to secure what that is.

Hell -- they have Ryan Day talking at Ohio State last year telling boosters the team needed $13 million in NIL to keep the roster together last year.

This is total bullshit and has been contradicted by other, better, tOSU sources. UGA ain't playing the "pay for play" game. We are offering NIL to players who are at UGA ... I am sure we are telling players that if they get here we will get you XYZ NIL, but we aren't paying high school players like that, and certainly not that amount.

Look, UGA isn't afraid go to get dirty, and I am sure we were dropping bags like eveyone else in the bag dropping era. But Smart has been clear that culture matters more and while he will process players, he will work the portal, he is not going to buy his team or rely on mercenaries except to fill clear needs for day 1 starters. He is focusing all NIL on players who are there and have bought in.

If true, good. $1.3M is insane and ridiculous. No thanks to all that.

Oregon just offered Peyton Bowen somewhere between 2 -3 million. OU said they would match. Shits getting out-of hand.

lol. People aren't offering players $2 mil, unless MAYBE its a qb. Especially a safety. These rumors of all these guys getting insane NIL deals are severely inflated and usually are coming from unnamed sources from some random nobody on twitter.

If any of this is true some of the current players would start getting pissed too. Star LB that was a semi finalist for the Butkus sitting there watching some unproven high school kid get over a million. That would have to affect team morale

Not sure if you bothered to click the link and also not sure who "multiple sources" are but here's what it says....

On Wednesday evening, rumors started to leak out onto Twitter from multiple sites that the Oregon Ducks were getting involved with Bowen’s recruitment and offering $2-3 million —with Oklahoma offering a match. Beside the money thing, Marcus Freeman’s scheduled in-home visit with Bowen was up in the air (while Oklahoma’s on Friday was still on the schedule).

Again, unnamed sources from random twitter guy. And the kid immediately said this was not true.

No one is offering a high school safety $2mil. The numbers are greatly inflated. This is just a complete guess, but my guess is the number is closer to 50-100k, if that.

This is only temporary. There's no way schools can continue paying unproven recruits this amount of money, especially with no guarantee they don't hit the transfer portal within the year.

oh how the worm has turned

I don't think OSU is exactly going anywhere....but things are changing. I'm just glad, no matter what happens, we aren't watching Alabama or Clemson in the championship game this year. That shit was getting boring at hell.

This post should have been started with "once upon a time"

No, Ohio St isn't going anywhere. In fact, I hope not because a true rivalry is much more fun. But I was getting pretty tired of everyone swallowing Ohio St's shaft and everything they touched seemed to turn to gold. Jim Tressell was a liar and scam artist and got paid millions for being that and is treated like a hero. Urban Meyer is a class a douche bag
