Is that a lot of money?
 
Hey, don't laugh about this money raising thing. I got some really nifty special window stickers for my cars just for writing a big check. Yea!!!! The stickers are really nice. Heck of a deal. I cut a fat hog in the ass with a sharp knife on that deal!!

It's a lot. The delay for a few days to have Brent Venables announced as the new coach was largely due to his demanding an assurance that OU would be willing and able to pony up the $$$ it would take to be competitive in the SEC. He got that assurance. The other thing that Joe Castiglione talked about last summer is the need for OU to upgrade its facilities. The football stadium just had a nine-figure upgrade before the SEC thing came down last year. There are little things still being done at the football stadium but the big stuff was already completed. Baseball, softball, tennis, etc., etc. are now getting the royal treatment. OU will make a lot more $$$ in the SEC but it's going to cost that and more to get to the top of the conference in facilities and championships. It's a helluva mountain to climb but I'm feeling more excitement about the entire athletic department from the people I talk to than I have felt in 30 years.
