Oregon got their QB

Good luck in a real league that plays defense, well except for some of those PAC teams they added

Oregon and Washington are going to introduce 21st century football to these Midwestern clowns. It's about time

When do we get the Gabriel for Heisman thread ?
I am not sure how this works. Gabriel has played every year in the same system. It will be interesting to see, if he has some issues adjusting to a new system

Penix had the benefit of prior years in DeBoer/Grubb system before moving to UW.

Whoever they poach for next season won't have that.

I'm confident that the coaches will adapt their offense to fit what Gabriel is comfortable with.

Of course. They did the same for Bo yeah? But Bo was stronger year 2 than year 1 with Oregon wouldn't you say?

UW had a benefit with Penix they won't have with whoever comes in to lead them next year. And Oregon is also starting from the ground up with a new guy.

Doesn't mean neither can be a 10+ win team.

Bo had his same OC as before.

Oregon has the benefit of more continuity and not undergoing (another) coaching change.

This is correct. It is huge advantage to have a QB like Penix or Gabriel, who have had more time in the system than most NFL QBs. Most QBs make big jumps in year 2 of a system. They just start to know where everyone is and where their checks are. That is year 2. Penix and Gabriel have like 5 years in the same system.

Constantly relying on transfer QB’s isn’t a recipe for sustained success
It didn't used to be, it's probably the best recipe moving forward. It used to be you grab a graduate transfer when you were desperate. Now most good QBs with a couple years of eligibility want to hit the market to see what they can get.

The systems aren’t that different, Gabriel will be great there

The learning curve is also a lot smaller for a guy who's in his 6th year as a starting QB in college football.

also had the benefit of multiple elite WRs. most teams hope they could get even 1 like Odunze or Mcmillian let alone both. throw in polk too. i dont know if Odunze is gonna declare early or not. McMillian coming off injury should stay and Polk only a soph so whoever is QB at UW will have targets.

Their 5* QB just hit the portal after news of this pickup.

This is the state of college football right now.

Those saying you must get you talent through recruiting have lost the plot.
Honestly this is how college baseball has been for a while. The very top players have a place to go (MLB/D1 or start for a P5 in CFB) and then the next level go someplace (JUCO) to get experience and then transfer to a D1 they wanted all along. It's just going to take CFB a few seasons for the 4* recruits to realize it is better to go to a different school where they can play in their first year than sit behind someone at their dream school.

Another merc.

Why can't Oregon recruit qb's?
Recruited Dennis Dixon and was a knee injury away from an NC game and Heisman. Recruited Darron Thomas went to NC game. Recruited Mariota went to NC and won a Heisman. Recruited Herbert look at him now. Recruited Shough won a Pac 12 title.
Brought in Masoli Pac 10 champs. brought in Adams got hurt decent season. Brought in brown P12North Champs. Brought in Nix multiple 10+ win seasons Heisman finalist NY6 bowl.
oregon is really kind of 5050 on the issue
