There are only 2 actual polls that mean anything and even those don't grant a different national champ anymore.

However, neither had Oregon anyway.

Like the AP, I'd have Oregon over tejas because Oregon did something that tejas did not. That is beat Ohio St once.

For that matter I'd also have Georgia over tejas, because they beat tejas twice.
tejas did not beat anyone that Georgia didn't also beat. tejas did not beat anyone that Georgia lost to.

My prediction in the other thread was exactly how the coaches poll landed. You were outraged at the very thought of having Texas up there and I simply said that's what my prediction was. I honestly don't care who is #2 or lower as it really doesn't matter. I'd have been fine with Georgia higher than Texas or Oregon at 2. No one will ever talk about those slots 3-4 years from now. All anyone will remember is it was Ohio State that won the first 12 team playoff.

I knew my tx/GA opinion was unpopular here, and now I know it's unpopular in the only 2 polls that matter.

Your opinion isn't unpopular. The point was that thread asked us to predict what the final ranking would be and I assumed they would take how high teams finished in that playoff over regular season matches and guessed it would go that way. Nothing more. I didn't feel strongly either way.

Oregon would have been better off losing the CCG and a lot of national folks were saying it before that match up. It was a clunky format with not ideal seeding that ended up punishing the bye teams.

If they then did ranking that ignored the outcome of that playoff it only further hurts the format going forward. That's just how I see it.

You were almost spot on Wiz. My disdain for having 12 or more playoff teams tarnished my opinion. I wouldn’t have Texas over UGA. Based on how the shitty brackets were, not so sure a 2 loss team that lost to N Illinois should be ranked over Oregon. But my view is slanted. Have a great offseason ya’ll.
