P4 teams playing true road games at G5 teams.

We gave Hawaii two home games in November in back-to-back years in 2002 & 2003 played the week after the Iron Bowl when we were on probation, mostly as a reward to players for sticking with the program, little tropical vacay since there was no bowl game. A reverse 2 for 1, we played them at home in 2006.

I randomly came across one of these games on YouTube a while back. I was thinking, "what the hell?" Bama is like 4-8 or something and playing in Hawaii the last game of the season? I couldn't compute why that was at the time, and completely forgot Bama was on probation those years.

I wish ND played at G5 schools a little more. I remember playing at Air Force and BYU many years ago, and those were some great atmospheres. I think it would also be cool to play Navy at their home field, but understand why Navy doesn't want too. For some reason we played at Hawaii in 1997. Outside of that, I can't remember anyone else.

Yes, the season of false hope, where we climbed to #21 after beating Kentucky on the strength of a 7-point loss to #1 Oklahoma. Then the wheels came off the wagon...it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good... a lot of moral victories, like a 2022 Nebraska, but the end result was shyte. That unfortunately describes a lot of the Shula era.

The 06 Air Force game I definitely remember, only because it was on what was CSTV at the time, and I didn't get that, so I'm trying to follow along on ESPN gamecast. If memory serves, I don't think that game was all that close. The 2013 game I don't remember at all. Looks like that was on CBSSN and we won by 5 td's. Lol.

I was supposed to go to the 2003 game but had some family stuff come up and had to bail. Wasn't all that excited about it after the season we had though.
