Bookie:
$ 10,500.00

Basically two tiers would be setup:
Tier 1 - Would be the PAC
Tier 2 - Would be the MWC
Each year several times would most likely move up and down in the model.

The chances of it actually happening are very slim but it's interesting they are at least thinking about it.

that would be cool.. but they should just merge...I also think this setup would benefit wazzu and osu better.. I get the money disparity, however.. they have a much better shot at establishing themselves and run that conference every few seasons into the CFP... compared to being stuck in the middle at best in the BiG or Big12

I like the idea of league-wide relegation even though my team would likely be impacted or damn close lol. But relegation could potentially impact scheduling and rivalries.

rivalry games would always be protected.. relegated or not.. GaTech always plays UGA and those are tiers apart

Texas vs aTm
Kansas vs Mizzou
OU vs OSU

Not all rivalries are protected some teams are pussies.

Interesting idea. It would definitely bring attention to what would otherwise be a meh conference.

No way this would ever come to fruition. It would be impossible to set budgets, plus how the hell do you recruit?

yeah but those are due to realignment.. who is breaking up the rivalries within the MWC right now?

oh-really-interesting.gif

Nebraska/Oklahoma (the GREATEST rivalry in sports) begs to differ.
hey man that was on ou while in the big12.. but again.. who is stopping the MWC schools from playing their rivalries within their conference?

Budget and money is the problem because you wouldn't pay tier 2 the same as tier 1 and getting everyone to vote on the possibility of not making as much as someone else in the league would be an impossible sale.

Recruiting impact would be negligible I would think after a few years.

So with 12 teams in the current MWC and 2 Pac teams thats still only 14 teams. so who do they expect to add for this? even the CUSA schools like New Mexico State and Utep would have to have some pretty big incentive to be a part of it. promote the Montana and Dakota schools?

Seems like the logical move would be to get to 16 teams with 8 teams per tier. As for who to add I have no idea as there aren't a ton of great candidates out there and none who move any kind of needle.

if you are going to relegate anyway seems like just getting teams that will buy in. a few warm bodies to fill numbers.
I wonder if the networks would see it as 1 package deal for money or 2 separate conferences.
MWC currently gets 4mil per school i think

Interesting. While I see a lot of land mines, I think there would be one very good upside.

I could see the possibility of a lot of late season interest/incentive in some conference games that don't have a lot going for them right now. Bottom half of the upper conference teams having to win in order to hold on to their position. And the upper half of the lower conference teams trying to win in order to work their way into the upper half the next season.
