I like many songs by the Who. I think John Entwhistle is one of the best R&R bassists of all time. I think Keith Moon is one of the best R&R drummers of all time. Pete could write a tune, but liked whiffing his own farts a wee bit too much. Rog is just a solid frontman...no frills.

Led Zeppelin dominates them in every category though. Dripping with soul. Much better in the studio. They both had their own take on R&B, and they both featured more traditional British/Welsh/etc fare as well.

In their heyday, which would you prefer to see live? That's a tough one but I'll pick LZ every time.

He makes the Rick gggrrrooowwwlll. I love his powerful pulling fingering style.

...but to contrast him against JPJ, I gotta lean JPJ. JPJ was an awesome bass player too, filling where needed and locking down the groove likewise. He's an awesome multi-instrumentalist and arranger as well though.

I wasn't a fan at first because it appeared obvious to me that they were copying that sound. But they've grown on me.
