2024 NLCS Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres

No way he is out at 2nd. Segura never had that

You can’t call that swing strike three in that situation.

In that situation? What?

On review I can’t say for sure the bat came around. Im inclined to say it didn’t. But, until they decide to start stopping play to review check swings it’s a live call play on the ump.

I think Smoltz said it right….the body movement from Profar with the check swing gave that extra look like he went around when seeing it live.

If it happened to a Phillie in that exact situation I would hate the call, I might even bitch about it. But, inside, I really wouldn’t be able to blame the ump.

The look on the third base ump after making the call was like "yea, I said what I said. Not taking it back."

About time we got a call in our favor.

That was a straight bullshit call. Probably didn’t matter but the ump totally fucked that one up.

In hindsight, and with the benefit of review, I agree with you.

But the third base ump doesn’t get the benefit of all this.

It’s the ninth inning in the NLCS. He can’t make that call if it’s close. And it wasn’t close.

he knew if he had called it ball four, he would get murdered by some overemotional Phillies fan. have to remember it is Philadelphia.

he had to do what was best for himself and his family. I don't blame him

Ok. But it was close.

And, frankly, while this series had two very balanced home plate umps with ball/strike calls, this one didn’t. So I will take it

Ok….in that case….home field advantage works. 🤷‍♂️

Holy cow, there's something inevitable about these Phillies

NLCS In da bag ?

Yeah, I'm calling it. I've even been betting on them and they're still winning
Damn if the Great Jinx of Hu can’t stop the Phillies, nothing can

Might have both series wrapped up tomorrow
Yep. Padres (With Phillies presumably starting Wheeler tomorrow) and Yankees (with Cole starting today) had to win today to have a chance. Too hard to come back from 3-1 or 3-0
