2024 NLCS Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres

Too bad the Padres couldn't have at least taken it back to the Gaslamp.

Going to be an interesting Series this year. I don't know how you can bet against the Phillies.
As a Phillies fan I can definitely see how you can. I love this team but the Astros are a good team...heart can only get you so far.

Astros are on the verge of sweeping their way into the WS, but they haven’t faired well against NL East teams in the WS, and the last time a team swept the DS and CS was the Rockies in 2007 and they got swept in the WS.

Phillies haven’t lost at home this postseason, and they’re on a roll, only thing that might slow em down is a few days off before the WS starts.

And as much as I like the Astros, I’m just not sure Dusty Baker is capable of winning a WS
None of that has anything to do with this year.

Dusty Baker has to be one of the worst managers in history and talented teams keep hiring him.

The best part of if the Phillies win it is that in last 4 years, 3 teams in NL East would’ve won World Series and none of them would be the Mets
Exactly

No it doesn't.

What happened years ago (or even a year ago) has no bearing on what happens this year.
That wasn’t the whole post. Dusty Baker being the Astros manager, a layoff before the WS starts and both teams coming in hit has a lot to do with the current season. Go lick some windows there Skippy, adults are talking

Lol

Ok, boomer.

Why bunt there?!?

But the sac bunt was stupid. You can’t afford to give a free second out there. Yeah, two RISP, but your 9 hole hitter is the last hope to keep your season alive.
He was bunting for a hit.
Hitless for the series.
Rain.
Messy conditions.
Starter coming in for the first time as a reliever.

It's not a bad idea.

Dude just didn't realize that Ranger is a tremendous athlete, cool under pressure, and yeah, pretty much played right into their hands.

he knew if he had called it ball four, he would get murdered by some overemotional Phillies fan. have to remember it is Philadelphia.

he had to do what was best for himself and his family. I don't blame him
He made a good business decision....

Even bunting for a hit there is stupid. If you’re successful, the bases are loaded with one out and the 9 hole hitting catcher is up to bat.

It was a bad play all the way around.

Actually had this talk with my father last night. Very old school and long time involved in baseball.

He saw it as an attempt to hit. Catch ‘em off guard and load the bases. Then maybe Nola tries to fly out (like he did anyway) to tie it and still have Profar coming up.

And, Grisham almost beat that out. Suarez was on the spot, but also I think the best plan had that bunt going down the their base line more.

At any rate, what are you going to do with a guy that’s 0 for the series?
