To be fair....the last few years dissenter have pointed out that this is the year Howie gets his tail in a crack. And he escaped every year.
Now, he often did it with “kick the can” measures like extensions to aging players that just pushed out the reckoning.
Now, he has to cut some big players IMO, not all of them fully out of gas. But, it’s not like they are trying to compete for division and playoff games at this point. So, he can have that reckoning with less pain then I imagined he would.
They will get under cap. It will be bloody, but it’s time for it to happen.
Howie can handle the cap. It’s the talent acquisition that’s going to need to happen to fill in a younger roster than I really think is where he is going to struggle.
For as much of a magician as he is with the cap, he is the complete opposite on drafting.

What did everyone "call"? That the Eagles had a shitty cap situation coming up? Most people could see that so if you're patting yourself on the back for pointing out the obvious...then congratulations, I guess.
The question is what he'll do next. As much as fans would hate to make 2021 a lost year, that's probably the best route to go. Get rid of some of the bad contracts in 2021, stop kicking the can down the road, get some of the young guys experience now, try to rebuild with young talent to start another run in 2022 or beyond.
The NFC East might be bad enough that they could push through a youth movement in 2021 and still be in the running to win the division. Either way, the team has a lot of work to do to become a Super Bowl contender once again.

PE1 was famous for saying that the salary would “disappear” because Howie is a “guru”. Everyone said that was bs and he was simply kicking the can down the road but PE1 vehemently disagreed.
I was one of “everyone” in that chorus.
I’m just not why other fans of the same team are getting “derp” over comments form a poster not even here anymore.
I see “PE1” in the sports forums almost as often as I see “AG” in the Pf.

The eagles “holding out for a first” is all ego. They know they made a mistake with Wentz and are trying to save SOME face by trading him. Getting a lot less than the Stafford deal just magnifies how much they fucked up.
I’ve seen the report that the Colts offered two 2s all over the place, including many times on BGN.
We all know Wentz hasn’t said he wants to be traded publicly.
It is all ego, and negotiation. They don’t have to make a move on Wentz until first week of March, I believe.
Problem is Howie put Bradford up on the block years ago and resisted the mid-late round offers for weeks and ended up getting a first from Minny. Thing is....it’s a lot different holding out for a better trade deal right before the season starts than it is in late Feb.
They will hold out a few more weeks and if someone like the Colts or Bears don’t go different directions than they will take the two 2s or the 2nd/3rd that the best offer becomes now that the Eagles HAVE to make a move.
