GAME Playoff Selection Show thread (11 am cst ESPN)

Dude, seriously? SMU has several good wins. TCU (8-4), Duke (9-3), Louisville (8-4), etc. Made the CCG in their 1st season in the conf, their two losses are by a combined six points, much more consistent team than Alabama.

SMU earned their place, Alabama didn't earn anything. See above. SMU made it to their CCG, Alabama didn't. SMU lost two games, by a combined six points, to teams w/ a combined W-L record of 20-5. Alabama lost three games, by a combined 33 points, to teams w/ a combined W-L record of 22-14.

The “you can’t punish them for having to play in a conference title game” logic only applies to the SEC.

Meh. I’m fine with it. It’s the only part of the invitational that leaves out bias and has a defined way of earning it.

There is no good structure with 130+ teams and a short schedule.

Disagree. This would be like giving all the conference champs in March madness preferential seeding over at large teams. The seeding impacts other teams

Come on now -- you cannot possibly think the ACC is even remotely close to the level of the SEC. The ACC is an absolute train wreck this year. You guys won the ACC without having to play a ranked team in conference play until your conference championship game.

You played two teams in the SEC and you were 0-2. The fact the ACC has two teams in the CFP is laughable. I'm not even a SEC fan -- I'm a B1G fan. The fact Bama has beaten both teams Clemson lost to (Georgia and South Carolina) should have eliminated SMU immediately, when they have zero top 25 wins.
I don’t give a fuck about if the conference isn’t as good as others. Picking the teams based on point spreads is one of the most retarded things I’ve ever heard.

Want to play that game? The fact that Alabama got ass blasted by a 6-6 team, lost to a team that lost to Georgia st, and was only up by 5 with 6 minutes left against USF, should just as easily eliminate Alabama.

Guess who was favored in all three of those games.

Penn State and Texas hardly moved for losing their CCG 's and nobody seems upset. SMU hardly moves after losing a CCG and people are ready to riot. All three lost close games.

I’d be perfectly doing the same in basketball. But basketball is completely different and not a fair comparison. Basketball plays 30+ games. You get a much better comparison of teams

SMU has ZERO wins over a ranked team. Zero. They just lost to Clemson, who played 2 SEC teams in OOC play. They were 0-2, including losing by 31 points to a team Bama beat. Bama also beat the other team Clemson lost to from the SEC, South Carolina.

The fact it came down to an ACC team and a SEC team and they chose the ACC team is hilarious. The conference is a train wreck right now.

I should be happy -- Penn State gets to play them, who also beat no one, so if Penn State wins, maybe they will keep Franklin even longer. I wish Ohio would have got SMU -- I really want them to keep Ryan Day.

Are you also advocating for keeping Texas out?

I wasn't sure who to pull for in that XII CG, would have been a great story either way
I obviously was pulling for ISU, but I think ASU has more potential to win a game or two in the CFP.
Skattebo is the real deal, and the rest of the team is pretty talented too.
P.S. Next year, the Sun Devils play @ Iowa State.

Honest question. Do you think the ACC has 2 of the top 12 teams in football?

Being real -- you could take your pick of SEC teams more deserving. You could remove both SMU and Clemson, put in Bama and South Carolina and you'd have much better games and matchups. Hell -- throw Ole Miss in their too.

LOL you gave up 24 points to Vanderbilt and 30 points to Georgia
UGA is the sec champ. And they had short fields all game. And we let Vandy get a garbage time TD.
And either way, it wasn’t a bad defensive showing in either case. You dumb.

Are you also advocating for keeping Texas out?
Why Texas? Truthfully -- Texas has the best team this year. The only reason Texas probably won't win is Quinn Ewers. I think Texas is the most complete team this year, but Ewers makes 2 or 3 throws a game that you just shake your head at.

I think Texas forces him out at the end of the year to give Manning the reigns at QB.

We probably wouldn’t beat SMU at this point I don’t care. Bama does not deserve it, maybe SMU doesn’t either but Bama definitely does it. Lol @ you jumping on the SEC SEC SEC! Bukkake train hood grief man
That's his whole gimmick.

Time for them to go to 9 sec games
This will never happen now. Won't surprise me to see them go to a 6 conf. schedule. 3 home/3road. Schedule 5 G5 and 1 fcs. CFPC made it clear this year that SOR is more important than SOS. A team that played 12 G5 games and 1 P4 game, which they lost, was given a first round bye and a second round home game. Make your schedule easier not harder. Just win games.

No he has drank the SEC jerk off kool aid he legit said a bit back in another thread that it’s a shame that at least half the playoff field won’t be SEC teams.
What conference do you think is the best conference in CFB this year? I've argued for the B1G in the past. I did it last year.

This year, personally, is an absolute no brainer. I'm curious which conference is the best in your eyes.

Reading the Bama message boards. The committee members are going to need to security up like a health insurance CEO for the next few weeks.
Well Nick Saban tells all the time: AFLAC fills those insurance gaps.

Didnt happen to SMU.

If bama wants an easier road, change conferences
No it didn't. SMU didn't play Oklahoma. SMU didn't play Georgia. SMU didn't play Tennessee. Fuck Alabama anyway. They didn't get it done.
