I read it as he locked the guy up because he wouldn't rat out the informant that told him the judge was meeting with the DA and a witness behind closed doors. It also reads that this isn't illegal, just improper.

But since the lawyer wasn't subverting the legal process by not ratting, then it doesn't meet the bar necessary for contempt.

We have a few lawyers on here than can probably explain it better, the article was almost unreadable. And honestly looked AI generated.

How does that square with a whole host of defendants rights? And then to lock up the defense council on charges that don't meet the criteria?

The judge needs some of own medicine and spend time behind bars. 30 days aus in the hole!!
