Auburn played Citadel and got crucified all year for playing Citidel.

Why did Auburn schedule Citadel? Because the game they had scheduled for that week with Bowling Green got bought out by Oklahoma halfway through the offseason and Auburn had to scramble to find anyone to play. Why did Bowling Green do that? Because an assistant AD from Oklahoma had taken a bigger position at Bowling Green.

Auburn also got penalized because a highly ranked Tenn team had fallen in the polls with two losses. Who did they lose to? Auburn both times (regular season and SEC Championship).

Auburn should have been in that game and Auburn would have won it.

that and heading into bowl season Auburn had more top 25 wins and just as many top 10 wins. difference was that OU's brand is bigger + OU started the season with pre-season hype @ #2

If you mean CFP final yes. But, FSU and Washington have both played in CFP semifinals.

No, because they didn't. That fsu team was legitimately great. The Athletic had them as the 8th best team of the last 50 years. ESPN had them as the 29th best team of all-time. They had the 3rd highest efficiency rating since 2005(when it began being tracked). They rank number ONE in MOV and YPP differential for title champions over the last 50 years. They avg 51.6 ppg. Their only close game was the title game.
