Preseason AP Poll

Seems reasonable. No real shocks compared to the Coaches Poll.

#6. Texas vs. #11. Michigan
#7. Alabama vs. #10. Penn State
#8. Ole Miss vs. #9. Notre Dame

I know you are all sick of me carping about this, but I have a real issue with Utah and/or FSU getting first round byes if the finish something like #11 and #14. (Same for Georgia and tOSU for that matter. But I doubt the SEC or B1G champ could win the conference ranked that low.

OK, I’ll let it die.

I'm okay with it. It makes being ranked 5th or 6th really advantageous.

I'm with you on SMU. I can see them hitting 10 wins this season. They're well balanced and return a lot of talent, and it helps that their schedule is definitely on the easier side.

Agreed 100%. If the point of the 12 team playoff is to get the best 12 teams, it shouldn't be a boost for you if you aren't that great but your conference sucks. Now if they're like 6th or even 7th, it's not so bad, but being ranked outside of the top 10 should disqualify you from getting a bye.

Yeah, I like them too. I think Lashlee is a pretty good coach, and really good with QB's. Look what he did with TVD. Miami nosedived offensively the year after he left. SMU will be good on offense, and last year they were surprisingly very good defensively. They do have a good schedule too. Road games are Nevada, UL, Stanford, Duke and UVA. Those latter 3 might be the worst 3 teams in the ACC.

Welp, we are here. Time to call your shot on who is Overrated and who is Underrated.

Rules:
The Current AP preseason poll is listed below. You pick one team that is overrated, and one team that is underrated. Any team not listed is considered to be ranked #26 (no matter how bad)

At the end of the season, you gain one point for every spot your overrated team drops. You lose one point for every spot they go up.
At the end of the season, you gain one point for ever spot your underrated team goes up. You lose one point for every spot your underrated team drops.

For once Texas has earned the hype. If they were still in the B12 I would have them easily in the playoff. This being the first season of the SEC it will be interesting for them.

They are Big12 soft, they are going to get beat up and lose a couple of games they have no business losing.
 
I have a VERY hard time believing that Michigan is one of the best 10 teams in this great land after all they have lost, including Harbs.
 
At some point we will see a g5 team with a 1st rd bye and it will be glorious

Yup, that will probably be the team that gets everyone the most points.
