Pretend to work Monday before Thanksgiving

Real chill week. We put our foot down and had to tell both sides of the family that we’re doing our own Thanksgiving this year at our house. Going to enjoy the Lions game on my own couch for the first time in years while the wife cooks up dinner.

Might swing by for pie after but the chunk of the day will be spent at home relaxing instead of getting up early to get all the kids ready to go out then driving all over MI to visit family.
I made that call years ago for Christmas Day. Anyone that wants to come over and very casually eat awesome food, drink, play games, watch movies, etc is welcome to, but we're not going anywhere.

@RobBase Yes, he says that in principal. But Mrs. Redfoot was none too happy when I showed up. I made snow angels in the front yard by pissing the designs. I put the lawn decorations into sexual positions and I even brought some gifts for the kiddies. Had she actually let me through the door they would have received a really cool bigwheel from 1987, a bagpack sprayer for Roundup. and a gift card to Chi Chi's.

I honestly never felt more unwelcome

What are you serving? (And where's that Thanksgiving Day food thread already?)

That ref looks like he ate one of your kids, lol.

Fuck that guy. Was letting those fucks basically assault our kids. Ive never seen anything like it.

Not to be a dick, but just curious why these events even happen. I've always been content playing local competition at those ages.

As stated, money. And experience for the kids. They enjoy it when they are not playing middle schoolers.

At some point. Don’t you just throw in the towel and take your kid off the field? When it’s risk of injury and the coaches and officials aren’t doing anything about it, I’d think that’s the best recourse. Who wins the game or if a team is outclassed aren’t concerns at that point.

Thats what we did. Like I said we were driving to tie it and they were basically daring the refs to flag them every play. It was insane. Last straw was they sought out the qb after a pass and just leveled him, no call. One of the parents was ready to fight the refs it was so bad.

just a bad ending.

What’d the league say?

They gave us a no contest instead of an L. Ultimately it doesnt matter mostly they just seed teams by past performance next year. So we prob get a bye whereas this year we played in.

We played the champ better than anyone they beat everyone else by double digits.

Was your QB (and everyone else) okay after the game?

Yes, thankfully. Just ended up a decent tailbone bruise, he hit his back end and we worried his helmet hit the ground going backward but guess not. Hes moving sluggish but no concussion.

Good to hear. I would've been as pissed as you were/are.
