Question for those criticizing the SEC for the 8-game schedule

Or, post a newer thread that contains more information - schedules being released today - and then ask people why they are whining. I still am buying my NC swag, enjoying B2B, and laughing at people. Also talking about it here on a sports board designed to, checks notes, talk about issues like these.
gonna have to DVR tonight.. i'm actually excited about this... move already has paid off for the home slate and the OOS... UT fans have real options outside the RRS and the OOC UM game to attend

We all know if the SEC moved to 9, they would show the rest of the country how it’s done, but there is no reason to follow loser conferences
Interesting way to not answer. That is a always a loser answer.

How many have been eliminated from contention because of an in-conference loss?

Example: 2014 Big 12

Baylor: (8-1)(11-1) (Lost to West Virginia)
TCU: (8-1)(11-1) (Lost to Baylor)

2014 CFP

Florida St: (8-0)(13-0)
Oregon: (8-1)(12-1) Lost in-conference to Arizona
Ohio St: (8-0)(12-1) Lost to Va Tech
Alabama: (7-1)(12-1) Lost in-conference to Ole Miss

Of course the Big 12 did not have a CCG then, so either Baylor or TCU were denied a 12th win. However, one can see that only the Big 12 and PAC 12 were playing 9 in-conference games then.

Playing 8 in-conference games minimizes what would be guaranteed losses for half of the conferences teams.
So, playing 9 outs you at a disadvantage, why do it?

You do you. Just sounds a little bitchy to me to start two different threads on the same subject in a week

I was thinking more this year when we play UAB. Don't even know who the cupcakes are next year. If we go to 9 IC games, one will go away.

Now, answer the original question ... what's your record if you played that slate of games. I'd guess you would lose at least 4 of those games. But, by all means, complain about our OOC schedule.
if i played it i would lose all of them. im 5'6 170lbs and havent played in 25 years

Fair so we take you off and you take off Bama and then we compa
I know you have the toughest schedule playing Bama and UGA every year. But in the 90s, that would have been the easy schedule while we played UTjr and UF every year which was the tough schedule. Saban will retire one day, as will Smart. But without divisions, yours isn't all that much harder than others. Everyone rotating through the league very other year makes that a certainty.

We’ll play a 9 game schedule when the media partners pay for it by God.

They Think we gonna do it for free?!?

:happyshake:
Someone, I think the Athletic reported that ESPN has no problem paying for it. The problem is that Bama got all pussy like and said they didn't want to do 9 and that gave 4 other schools cover to go along with Bama. Bama is obviously objecting to getting UTjr, Auburn, and LSU even though they played all 3 for the past many decades, and beat the shit out of all 3 for the most part during the last 20 years.

Have you forgotten we played Florida every year in the 90s plus LSU?

Our Amen corner every year was Florida, Georgia and then Bama.

I’ve said for years Texas’ problem was after the Oklahoma game your best games for ratings were OOC.

Your schedule was boring and no one cared outside the B12. There typically was one more conference game on your schedule that had meaning otherwise no one cared to watch.

In the SEC half your games will be of interest.

Based on rumors that are coming out, here is how our schedule is shaking out for next year:

nUF, AU, @KY / @Bama, @UT, UTjr, MSU, @OM / Clemson, GaTech, 1 cupcake, 1 decent G5

For those doing the bitching, what's your team's record playing that creampuff, 8-game schedule?

Recall that I am for a 9 game IC schedule, but the idea that our 8-game schedule is easy is absurd.
11-1, maybe 12-0 if things go right.

Texas was it's own country man.. TN fans get all chesty about sending it's warriors down here to free TX... only to get wiped out by an army of landscapers
thats racist GIF

...or roofers!

I was actually being serious. You really think you would beat 5 of Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee? I like the confidence, I suppose.

Hell WE DIDN'T CARE for it either. It always felt like a lose/lose situation.. It was the reason why UT had to schedule big names to give something to the season ticket holders..

I get it, if we won more fans would show up....in Austin.. but not many signed up to travel from around Austin/DFW/Houston to ames or manhattan or lawrence or stillwater.. majority that did show up lived near those places.

LOL, LSU sucked in the 90s. I mean numerous 2, 3, 4 win seasons.

I’d love to find out.

If I was being serious I would say 3-2, this year. Anywhere from 0-5 to 2-3 in the past 5 or so
